That's the bleed port their cheap brakes have been using for a hot minute. Always liked them better than the classic bleed nipple. Nice. Also the angle seems pretty ideal for both ends of the bike.

The original post said "possibly career ending crashes", they didn't say that two careers were ended by crashes this weekend. They're talking about Henry Kiefer's crash and Bode Burke's crash, and it's not too hard to imagine how crashing off those two drops could end in a double femur or spinal cord situation that you never fully recover from. I was talking to Bode after his Q1 crash and he thought both of his legs were going to break on impact. Definitely hard to ignore two SRAM XX DH drivetrain failures leading to very similar and terrifying crashes!

It did snap: "lost the chain" also you can see the chain clearly flying off at the beginning of the other site's video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-w1oI60PEs

I understand that but on the other hand it's kinda interesting to me to see so many small(ish) brands coming out with clip pedals, all with very similar mechanisms and so well polished and functioning. Renthals mechanism looked similar to what Nukeproof was running at first glance. It's kinda like there's somewhere a company with a lot of knowhow in mechanism development and experience with stamping small steel pieces selling these to these small companies?

You are correct, thanks for making mention before I could catch up in this thread. On longer climbs I would take the chain off but most times I just wouldn't care to. The bigger problem was the chain length in my largest rear cog when using the lower guide, only a problem during climbing though. The system was great while descending. But I just run the ochain now instead of the lower guide because it's manages the chain whipping and is less faff.

Bit late to the party here but who cares. I can personally vouch for the failings of the evil frames. Beautiful design, suspension was unrivalled at the time it was so far ahead of the time period it was in. The early run of frames (pre product recall, first gen if you like) the heat treatment was horrible and the general quality control from the factory in Taiwan was pretty shocking. Weld quality wasn’t great, posts of chicken shit welds grinded back to look smooth and the earliest iterations of their delta link suspension design, although very supple at the...

I was going to make a post about the core Lenz customer being a boomer suspicious of tubeless tires and dropper posts, but I thought better of it. Then I happened upon a boomer posting theirs with a rigid post. And I'm back because my soul is sour and withered.

" No one actually cares about cues or whatever, people want shiny fancy shit." That's funny, no one cares about any higher level mtb groupset at all when it comes to the mass market. Cues, 105, Deore and untiered groups sales are what allows Shimano do some cute sidequests like XTR, DuraAce or Saint.

A few months ago I was told October release for the new Saint group. I'm sure we've all heard various time frames, but it's looking closer than ever!

Are they really "prototype" if they're straight out of the factory, but with stickers covering the branding?

I’m not convinced wireless shifting on bikes is that much better for the added cost or that Shimano will be left behind if they make this cable. For e-bikes yes, where it can be connected directly, but fortunately dh racing isn’t electric (yet) For privateers is having a £500 mech on your bike really the difference between the top step or a top 20? Ready for some new brakes next year but gold levers would put these at the very bottom of the list, just behind jamming my foot between frame and tyre

Those cranks aren't "normal" as they are not available to the public, crank arms and spindle might be the same (hard to say if they are the same lenght as available for the current gen on maybe shorter options will be added?), spiderless design is new.

For the current saint brakes, the calipers are beefed up but they actually have the same size pistons as XT and XTR - just a slightly different servowave ramp built into the lever. If the new saint brakes get released and it turns out that they also have the exact same size pistons as XTR, I'll be very disappointed in Shimano. We have waited far too long for these saint brakes to end up having 5% more power than XTR.

E-bike cable tourism is notorious for friction, it’s worth checking. You also should check hanger for alignment, a new hanger is not the same as a properly aligned hanger, and often the hanger will need tweaking to account for frame tolerances etc. set is up is right, things aren’t worn, and the hanger is straight, then cable routing is next stop.
