Haha totes adorbs to think that big sports are somehow more virtuous…cmon. Shaq put his teammates’ toothbrushes up his ass and I do believe Ray Lewis killed a guy. The size of the sport only really indicates the strength of the PR machines. Combine MTB’s small scene with the demographics involved, we’re solidly in a “don’t rock the boat” bubble. Truly independent (and interested) news sources are needed.

I hate that this is the case, but even in bigger sports they don't care. Look at tennis, Zverev beat up not one but two partners and zero reprimand. Formula 1, the Horner situation. There's so many instances of this in the top tier of sports in the world and nothing happens.

I find it distributing (though not surprising) the UCI/WBD hasn't launched their own misconduct investigation into this one. I know if this was a bigger sport with more media pressure, that's exactly what would happen. The results (independent of the courts) would dictate his future, and these types of things are usually handled quickly. As an example, Trevor Bauer was suspended (MLB ) even though there was no criminal conviction (honestly, probably should have been booted from the league). Side question, doesn't Thibault come from real money?

Can't remember which race, but it was on the WB broadcast for the final when Neko was the color commentary. something to the effect of "wow look at him charge that section, this guy won't take 'no' for an answer!"

Long time wc photographer D ave Trumpore left this comment on pinkbike in relation to Daprella not being included in any photos. " if you punch someone in the face and don't get charged with assault that doesn't mean you didn't punch them in the face... and often times money buys silence ;-)" supporting the allegations and rumours of a payout/ threat of legal action to sites. Is quite saddening to see allegations of such a nature be so easily brushed under the rug with money even in the small world of mtb.

Yeah man, while I am a big proponent of the presumption of innocence (which I don't think is necessarily the case in all Euro countries), Masip's account on Pinkbike was pretty brutal, and doesn't really leave any room open for a claim of a "misunderstanding" or "poor communication" in a semi-consensual setting. Her account sounds more like there's a straight up rapist prowling around the Enduro pit areas at night (lock your windows, lock your doors), who is living a double life as a beloved member of the Enduro community by day. That is pretty wild, and seems particularly shocking...

„ When we reached out to Masip, who was a contestant on Season 3 of Pinkbike Academy, she said she isn't naming her aggressor because her lawyers have advised her not to but that "he's a loved and respected person in the enduro world". She says that she has filed reports with both the UCI and Spanish police in October of 2024, but at this time, she says she's not sure if her aggressor will be charged or not.“ according to pinkbike. Sounds more like an enduro racer.
