This is what's so funny about Gates throwing all this marketing at MTB. It's the gearbox we want and once we get it the industry could vomit all over belts and we all use chain driven gearboxes. Chain seems more convenient since they're readily available and can be changed without unbolting the linkage.

Honest question, I thought that was the selling point of the belt drive bikes, was the mud performance and self cleaning. Does it not perform as well as traditional chain(s)?

"normal chain instead of a belt, due to a local need, region with a lot of rain and a lot of mud" Yeah...to think multiple World Cup teams whose hopes for the $100k Gates belt drive bounty depends on a relatively mud-free event.

The G3 is by far my best bike; the only thing that bothered me was the belt on very muddy days. With this chain conversion, it's perfect for my needs. Besides being better in the mud, I can find the chain and standard gears at any store, and the belt parts are only imported. I see improvements being made with the belt every day, thanks to the teams using it in the WC. So, who knows, maybe after these improvements, I'll go back to the belt.
