11/18/2024 12:34pm You’ll be getting a lot less maximum braking power out of that. I’d try the combo the other way around.

11/13/2024 10:33am No offense, but my hunch is that a $900 no-name dual crown for Surrons probably rides like a $900 no-name dual crown for Surrons. If you want to jump on that grenade to find out for the rest of us, I salute you, but I don't imagine RFloXa is killing themselves to sort out the finer points of suspension dynamics for the mostly beginner, mostly pavement-pounder Surron market in the same way that Fox, RS, EXT, or others in the high-end MTB space do.

11/8/2024 9:04am Yeah those Roval rims are pretty decent and backed by Specialized warranty. Their ally ones aren’t great though

11/8/2024 8:40am a local shop employee is trying to these out and had his first ride yesterday. Lots of traction so far but early in the testing.

11/3/2024 9:53pm You clearly haven’t ridden them. The only brake that might outperform them is the Maxima. Way more power than my Tech 4 V4s or the MT7s I had before.

10/17/2024 8:44am The hot thing now is 'damper forward' setup because of the new Grip X2 damper. That said, Rockshox's Charger 3.1 offers way LESS damping and more HSC if you want it (much larger adjustment range vs. 3.0). The issue with relying on the damper too much is a problem if you ride steep ass terrain like we do all the time in the PNW. Regularly riding down steep trails with grades 25-35%+ means a fork with a soft airspring/bad mid-stroke will be diving 2/3rds into it's travel before you even hit a bump. Not much suspension left when you do...

8/27/2024 8:52am Layout and exact numbers aside, there really isn’t anything that sets it apart from a Kona. Both are linkage driven single pivots so leverage ratio can be tuned independent of axle path, anti-squat, and anti-rise. But with both, like any single pivot, once you pick pivot placement, axle path, anti-squat, and anti-rise are set in stone. Exact shape of the leverage curve might vary a little for better or worse with either. With a linkage like what’s on Konas, it’s harder to get off in the weeds you tuning leverage curve, but how much you can tune a leverage curve...

8/14/2024 3:37pm Correct. I helped lay out the new tune names etc. We had the issue where a M tune on a Super Deluxe did not match the M tune on a Deluxe and that did not match the M tune on VIVID... Also- we had a shock with extra L1, L2, L3 and L4 tunes (in addition to normal L, M and H), they were not spaced evenly and no one could remember if L1 was lighter or heavier than a L2 tune. So we went to numbers that meant something on the dyno. We wanted OEMs to be able to...

7/3/2024 10:44am I agree, the bike doesn’t need the genie shock, it’s just a selling point for bikes shops seeing as 95% of people that buy the new Stumpy will never run a different shock. For Non-Fox riders and people that like to tinker, they will find other shocks/setups that ride just as good/better than the OEM shock. I hate to make another car analogy, but, it’s the same reason people buy TRD Pro versions of Toyota vehicles. They would never go through the trouble of swapping out their OEM suspension but if it comes from the factory with “better” suspension, they’ll...

7/3/2024 10:42am I’m gonna go against the grain of most of you. I actually think the wireless only is a smart move. (Presuming they are releasing an alloy model that can run mechanical drivetrains). Having an already premium carbon bike that can only run wireless makes it seem a little “more premium.” People that drive Rivians and Teslas to the trail head will love that their bike is exclusively wireless. While the people that drive 20 year old lifted Tacomas will get the option of the alloy version. I’m sure specialized has done their homework and they know that the amount of...

6/5/2024 10:11am All the best to Zink, but doesn't that post sound like he's just throwing shade at all the brands he's worked with in the past? As if they were not "what he was looking for". Or am I reading into this too much? Someone like Gwin would thank the brand they last worked with and move on...

4/25/2024 10:39am New session in the works. Screen grabs from team video. Looks like some kind of stiffness around seat tube/BB area. Maybe frame enclosure around shock for lateral stiffness? Chainstay, seatstay look the same.
