totally agree with everything you said, indeed, best brakes Sram has made, but i don't see how they can be better than hopes for example, which has been proven stronger with the same effort to the lever AND has a way lighter free stroke, so even if you have a perfect brake technique and go hard all the time will result in less fatigue, just like for someone dragging brakes all the time like me.

Hosting hospitality guests from "paddock" space. Yes, because WCDH has a huge market for wealthy VIP/corporate type experiences , just like F1. Can't make this stuff up.

Yup. And they were told to not be a copy cat again before release but apparently ignored it. Copying arguably the best brake on the market and even doing improvements AND then iterating on them with more improvements is one thing. Blindly copying the most well known CNC crank on the market that is not even the best design for. A crank is just pure laziness... I was in the give the benefit of doubt camp before this release, now there is no helping them.

Magnet works by magnetic moment (which origins from elemental quantity called spin) of unpaired electrons in material being aligned which produces a magnetic field. Roughly speaking ofc.

Sure everyone has preferences, but aren't you letting your own biases lead you to disregard his reviews as flawed or invalid? The mavens do have a very heavy pull compared to other brakes on the market, Shimano, Hayes, maguras, other srams, and if you are not an amazing or experienced rider, you are going to drag your brakes far more. Heavy pull and brake dragging leads to hand fatigue and arm pump. That can be corrected with different braking technique, but one that is more suited to racing, braking late and hard only when you need to. But the majority...

tech 4 V4 are actually more powerful than the maxima on the dyno, the maven feel very powerful because of the impressive initial bite, although power is nothing without control which Hope and Trickstuff seem to excel with

@codahale I have indeed. No extra installation or setup steps required and felt great out of the box! @TheFBI the fuss is that they have been hyped up as the best/most powerful brake on the market. In reality they don't match the power of other models and that is after they have undergone extra setup steps (which may have to...

if it‘s so easy, why can‘t sram do it already in the factory?

They'll be doing downhill, I'd imagine. Richie seems capable and motivated. He'll do well enough. Send Slawomir to all the stage races, Megavalanches, some EDRs, all the US stuff like Leadville or Downieville or Maah Daah Hey 100 (little shout out for a cool race up here in North Dakota) and all the wild stuff he's willing to do. He'll do great and get to advertise the entire Yeti line. Hire a filmer/editor to follow him around (super bonus for being a decent bike mechanic, too) and he's now a very loud part of the Yeti marketing arm. Hire a...

We make them because the bike companies request them. and actually when you start digging into it, we dopnt make a ton of bearings, just combos with bearings for different uses. and we usually have decent stock for our HS. feel free to reach out to us directly and we can usually sort a bearing that works (many are cross compatible). If you have more questions directly related to a HS feel free to DM me.

That 9-45t cassette from shimano is neat. I've wanted a tighter 12 speed option for a while other than stuff like e13 and garbaruk. I ran e13's 9t stuff for a while and on most bikes it worked well, some bike shapes didn't play nice with the 9t for the most part it worked out well. Shimano had that XTR 10-45t cassette but as far as I could tell it was vapourware; I've never managed to see one in real life. But 9-45t allegedly coming on a bike? XTR LINKGLIDE being 11 speed? This is crazy. it's like they listened...

I asked ChatGPT what Sesame Seed was talking about and to be okay with being brutally honest and distasteful if it wants. Enjoy: This comment seems to be a convoluted attempt at drawing parallels between professional bike racing and motorsports, particularly Formula 1, but it’s a jumbled mess of loose associations and misplaced terminology. Let’s break it down brutally: 1. Chain Drive Skepticism : The commenter kicks off with skepticism about recent changes to bike racing due to “chain drive,” but gives no real details or context for what exactly they are skeptical about. It feels like they are grasping...

Rumour of my demise have been exaggerated. We are safe. But we are forever changed. A water & wind event of near biblical proportions hit us & has taken far more lives than can be counted. Didn't know where to make my one post, but this will be it for a long time. No politician, no plan, no design could have stopped anything that happened here. A stream I could step across took the first home at the top of it. A friend lost 10 members of his family saving his wife and kids watching his parents & relatives swept...

I'm kind of surprised there isnt much for options regarding aftermarket DH crowns. Maybe theres just not enough people willing to buy them. They are all the rage in moto just for the cool factor mostly but people eat those things up. The raw looking machined crowns on the last 35mm boxxers looked so good. I'd be all over a set of of similar looking ones for 40's. I think ride engineering/luxxon/cascade or WRP would be all over that, maybe its just too cost prohibitive idk.

Do we have to get upset with sizing everytime!? Surely everyone here already knows what geometry numbers they prefer. So it's pointless worrying that your last bike was a M/L/XL. The clothing industry hasn't been able to standardise sizing so the bike industry doesn't stand a chance in that respect. That said it you're actually cool enough to be a proper Vital member you should be taking that size sticker off anyway!
