I've been away for a while, so not checking regularly for a couple weeks, so I spent a couple hours trying to catch up, prolly 12 or so pages the content and tone of comments has changed drastically in the last year. I can only assume with increased users and engagement, which has brought along with it, a much more negative and judgy tone. I was drawn to this comment section for the rumours and innovation (and spy shots, and great info from the likes or TEAMROBOT, Cascade, Dave, and many others) but I find myself turned off by the...

An Ebike isn’t just about making the climb easier. At least that’s what I’ve learned about them. It’s more about time management. I don’t have to plan my whole day around a ride on my favorite trail. You can also get to trails that you don’t ride as much because they are easier to access. It’s also interesting to run them in a different direction that wouldn’t be feasible on your regular bike. Did I mention climbing technical trails has a whole new spin to it? I still prefer riding my analog bike to be fair. Ebikes are just another...

If you met someone at the trailhead, asked them what % progressive kinematic their frame had and what is the leverage ratio they would look at you like you were an alien holding a rectal probe. "I bought it because it was blue" would be their response. Normal people don't care about this stuff lol. I've tried them all over the years, from literally Regressive designs, through to 45% DH monsters. I keep coming back to 25% been my sweet spot on a coil for an enduro/long travel bike. It's my goldilocks number. What is more important, is the Ratio...

I'll also argue that there's a meaningful distinction between word use in in casual vs professional settings. If your job is marketing/comms/similar I will absolutely mock you for making errors like that (and I'll be extra-petty about Spesh for personal reasons).

As a person who took far too long to begin acting like an adult, shedding my pedantry has been huge. We use words to communicate ideas and if you get what a person is saying, that’s enough. I used to be such an asshole when it came to spelling and word choice. Waste of time, energy, and possibility. And sometimes the word’ll change meanings on you, like it looks like may be happening here. That’s what did it for me*. Let go, let dampen. *it was the word “enormity” for me. Somewhere along the line I’d learned that the word...

Thanks Sspomer, Has anyone noticed a real change recently from open mindedly discussing/presenting rumours and innovations, to endless posts about "opinions as facts" on the topics? Maybe its just me, but I felt like this thread used to be more open to ideas, and just seeing cool things, and I'd like a return to that. These new things arent for everyone, and not every product is meant to be the perfect fit for everyone, which is friggin great, we should want diversity in the marketplace, shouldnt we? I feel like we have strayed from that recently.....

Weird the ESTA is steeper in small, then slacker in m/xm, then steeper again in the big sizes. Usually they just say it's the same across the board or steepens slightly as size goes up. Must be for rear wheel clearance. As to the short cs/long cs thing, I'll just say I wouldn't want all brands to be on the short train or long train. Why should every brand go long? That would be boring. Options are better for consumers on the whole.

Apologies for tater cam. New Ripley spotted today. Reach grows. Same design as the HD6. In frame storage, mullet chip, no other adjustments seen. Claims made: The Ripmo will share the same triangles with a different shock and yoke. Build weight XT/Fox Factory/Ibis Carbon wheels/ DHR II and Dissector 28 lbs.

The last thing they told me was SuperSoft on enduro casing (which I've now ridden, at the YT Decoy SN launch), and Soft for the trail casing (which I published a picture of in our Sea Otter coverage, so at least one such tire exists). Sounded like no plans for a SuperSoft with trail casing though, correct.

Some folks on MTBR are talking about the Ibis Ripmo V3 dropping on 7/16. Anyone know if this is true? I hope its able to be setup as a solid enduro basher and not made into something too light. Who knows!

Apparently Ripmo and Ripley will be released together. Ripley is said to have a bump in travel. Not sure which direction Ripmo is going to go. Will be awesome to see how it compares to Stumpjumper 15 and hoping for aesthetics like the HD6

Ibis supposedly launching a new Ripmo (and possibly other models) next month that mimics the design language of the HD6. REALLY quiet out there though which is unusual being this close to launch. Anyone hearing anything new?

Im so utterly baffled by the comments on the Stumpy Its not a proprietary shock, its simply only currently available on the Stumpy, give it a hot minute, and I bet you'll see it available.... Its not exclusively running Fox suspension, as there is an Ohlins model available....Which should mean that both coil is acceptable, and pretty much any other shock will work (might require an appropriate tune) Mullet is an option on S3 and up sizing.... simply buy some stick on cable guides and run whatever you want on it. All of you "cry out" for external routing anyway...
