I can actually provide some feedback here to the maven base vs all other flavors of maven conversation... unfortunately, @TEAMROBOT took most of the words right out of my mouth. I have 3 sets of maven brakes on my bikes, Experts, Bronze and Base. I am running 200mm HS2 rotors and metallic pads on all of the setups. I recently bought the maven base to put on my trail bike as I was having a hard time running mavens on 2 of my bikes, and then TRP DHR Evos on my trail bike. The modulation point (harder to feel the...

Mostly cuz they are what I had around when the HS2's came out. They are light, cheap, and I wasn't needing more power so stuck with centerlines. There is one long steep descent here in SW CO where I'll get some fade, but I only ride that trail a few times a season if that.

New Dakine rolling bike bag worked for me recently and was able to get it under 50 pounds by removing a bunch of parts so didn't have to pay oversize fees. Rotors, chain, pedals, pump, tool... off and into a carry on. New bike is heavier so would probly have to take front brake and maybe seat and post off...

I used to have a shitty bike rack you could pretty easily just steal off the car if you wanted, and I had to head into the shop. I was so proud of my idea to back up perfectly to a pole so I could lock my bike to the pole without having to take it off the rack. Came out of the shop, jump in my car and promptly ripped my bike off the rack driving away breaking the straps it was attached with and giving it a big ol scratch.

I have had good luck with cutting the end of the tubeless tape at a bias - a 45 degree type cut at the end. Seems to work well at keeping the end down and not slowly working itself loose over time.

In case anyone is still using the OEM plastic tubeless strips that come on Bontrager rims, those are equivalent to ~4 layers of tubeless tape. It also makes the center channel narrower and won't allow both beads of DH tires to sit in the channel at the same time, a recipe for frustration. Replacing that with 1 layer of tubeless tape is the first step.

Thank you everyone for the solidarity. Update for today. Attempt number I don’t know what anymore I’ve lost count. The friction of rubber on gorilla tape is like it has glued itself the the bead of the Tyre and it takes me over an hour just to get the bead of the Tyre to move away from edge of the rim and drop into the rim bed. I’m so sweaty I look like I’ve just got out of a pool and my thumbs and forearms are no longer useable body parts. I work in concrete construction everyday and this is...

Rode a set of Maven Silvers for a bit this fall. As Robot noted- they were to on/off for me, even with a pair of well used Centerline 200mm rotors and resin pads. They are extremely powerful and they are also really quiet and I found the lever pull very easy and smooth. One weird wandering bite point incident on...

You're very entitled to your own opinion, but I didn't hear the same contradictions you did. I've re-listened multiple times this morning and I still can't hear it the way you have. I heard Markus say they knew they were facing tough times but weren't expecting the PE firm to get to a point where they aren't willing to inject cash. The Fire Sale was an effort to get through that specific period without having to ask for more cash. That failed and then they were told 'no more'. As for your previous point, it's not exactly clear to me...

I'm curious to see the development curve on the 32in.. 29 had the interruption of 27.5 and a lot of years trying to make a 29er feel like a 26.. Maybe this time they address what the feel the strengths the 32 are and go at it.. Or, does history repeat itself and we get 30.5 for a minute? Then we end up at 32/30.5 mixed wheels..

I tried to make this clear in my follow-up audio note, but I’m really not trying to throw shade at @Downtime Podcast or Chris. Two things can be true: Chris is one of the best hosts in the MTB world, and the Markus episode missed the mark for some of us. No podcast hits a home run every time. Every show I listen to has episodes where I think, “not for me” or “this one whiffed.” That’s normal. And the same is obviously true for my own content. In a way, Chris let Markus make his own bed. Anyone who...

Thanks to those who've taken time to write kind words about Downtime. I was expecting to get some hate for this episode as there is definitely a lot of frustration out there on this topic and Markus appears to be a very polarising character. For what it's worth, I put in the time to understand the concerns of the MTB world as much as was possible from forums etc and I believe that all those key points were covered in this interview. I also took time to understand the mechanisms of Private Equity and just why growth is essential and...

Yeah. He has great content and personality. It really is a shame that no one has figured-out how to cover enduro in an interesting way. Most gravity bikes sold are enduro bikes, and, I'd guess that on a local level, enduro racing is still popular. But translating World Cup Enduro to a television audience has just never been done well. I think my initial comment about "looking for a sport" may have sounded unkind. It wasn't meant to be--really just a sad reaction to what seems like the slow death of what really is a great sport. I got to...

The Moir curse continues Sad Hope he lands on his feet, he is a fantastic ambassador for the sport to the kids of Australia and in all my dealings with him over the years one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet. What you see in the videos is him in reality, a true legend.
