Personally, I'm not American, so that doesn't play into it at all. Winning doesn't make you likeable. Dak presents as a nice guy and people like that. Having a bit of a unique set up could also play into it, but I think it's mostly just the nice guy thing. People also love an underdog and a comeback story, so everyone's been cheering him on as he's steadily improving after his injuries last year.

I am not one to dis someone but that guy is sooooo annoying announcing DH. He seems perfect for the pits and maybe in corral post race but commentating he is super in accurate with what he is saying - ____ ALMOST OUT THE FRONT DOOR every 3rd rider. The nonsense that dribbles out of him is just an embarrassment. It's gotta be crazy hard but they need to replace him. Rewatching all the races from 2025 and if my wife is the room I have to put headphones so she doesnt have listen to him!

I don't think that he couldn't find a ride, although being an enduro racer doesn't help right now, but he straight up said that he's burned out. It's a grind for those guys.. You must be new to the sport if you think DH bike sales and race team budgets are related. DH racing will be around for a long while yet. And it's already been through plenty of ups and downs. Some bigger than others

He clearly did not leave by choice. Hope Mondraker forever regrets letting him go. Really hope he finds a company that will provide him with a great bike that is already "finished" and not another team developing for years just to drop out when the Bike is finally done. But more than that I hope he gets Paid! and I really hope has a great season.
