11/22/2024 9:16am Yup. And they were told to not be a copy cat again before release but apparently ignored it. Copying arguably the best brake on the market and even doing improvements AND then iterating on them with more improvements is one thing. Blindly copying the most well known CNC crank on the market that is not even the best design for. A crank is just pure laziness... I was in the give the benefit of doubt camp before this release, now there is no helping them.

11/18/2024 8:55pm What Neko is doing is not comparable to what Zink is “doing”. Neko has been open from conception whereas Zink has just turned up with a frame. I’d wager most would buy a Frameworks if they could. A Zink, I’m not so sure… The dude can FreeSlope with the best, but “design” a bike…

11/12/2024 7:07am Yup, both fluids are about equally bad - I think its just a perception that people think mineral oil is "friendlier" despite being you know, a petroleum product.... So it seems weird to target dot fluid when so much more of it is used in cars and there are far worse materials like PTFE still being used in chain lubes and suspension oil

11/12/2024 7:02am No offense, but my hunch is that a $900 no-name dual crown for Surrons probably rides like a $900 no-name dual crown for Surrons. If you want to jump on that grenade to find out for the rest of us, I salute you, but I don't imagine RFloXa is killing themselves to sort out the finer points of suspension dynamics for the mostly beginner, mostly pavement-pounder Surron market in the same way that Fox, RS, EXT, or others in the high-end MTB space do.

11/5/2024 10:39am A friend of mine tested the Range at Falls Creek and wasn't blown away by it, compared to the brachyuran enduro bikes we normally ride, which gave us a bit of an idea of the kind of trails it probably needs to shine. Falls Creek has a lot of elevation to work with and was a lot of fun, but none of the trails are extremely difficult or fast.

11/5/2024 4:41am This could have the added benefit of extra cooling conveniently being available at the same time as sudden, extreme braking events......

11/4/2024 12:55pm The clear best solution is to just make water-cooled capable calipers. Water gets cycled through by a pump driven by a little baby pulley wheel on the outside edge of the rotors.

11/2/2024 1:27pm The following example is comparing three different theoretical bikes that have the same travel and progression, but different shock strokes. I made up a function to depict the air spring. It's not perfect, but it's not far off either. More ramp that most air shocks. This is only a portion of the picture. I wouldn't say there's any benefit to designing a bike around a short shock beyond fixing clearance issues if there are any, though. The reality is there are loads of air shocks that are plenty linear out there. Leverage curves (made them linear functions for the sake...

11/2/2024 1:26pm To make the air shock as linear as possible is imo a good thing, as it's easy to make it progressive with simple tuning via volume reducers, but very hard or impossible the other way around. One thing that doesn't attract anywhere near as much attention as pos/neg volumes is eq port location, it makes a big difference and is often difference between meh air spring and a good one.

11/2/2024 1:25pm From the info available the reason stated is to optimize friction between the pistons and seals. To me that says either other brakes use looser seals or SRAM couldn't be arsed to add that step in the production line.
