Some much good chatter 🙂 This recent confirmed news of Greg leaving Santa Cruz Syndicate is nuts. I really thought we’d see him 1 last year with SC then retire. And the rumours of him signing with Norco is bonkers. Norco is more of a lower budget factory team in my opinion but what do I know lol absolutely nothing. Norco just let go 2 riders, Jill and Bryn I think 🤔 so maybe that frees up enough...

In my experience as a sponsored athlete, I found a surprising amount of sponsorship and financial support by being a familiar face at regional races, where I was able to consistently be at or near the top of the results sheet. By contrast, chasing the national series or the World Cup dream was EXPENSIVE (like 5-10x more expensive) and getting anything less than a podium at a national was effectively meaningless to sponsors. I really hope that Dak and Pinky aren't going to Mondraker. No one has really seemed to kill it on their bikes in a while. I'm hoping that the MS Intense rumors are true for Dak. In his Downtime Podcast appearance, he kept talking about "consistency" being key to his success. If you listen closely, he's not talking about his own consistency (although that's part of it), but having consistency in bike and setup being necessary for his success. Another super annoying thing, the rider’s time is always shown in green. Then a small little line shows up under it to let you know if the rider went slower or faster. Super confusing when we’ve all been used to seeing green only for faster times for years They were told about this after the first race but never cared to change it. (I know that green is their main theme color, that doesn’t mean it has to be used for the time graphic). A small detail but it shows they are not really listening or caring.

A few hours after DH finals were over last wknd, I randomly ended up sharing the elevator (for all of one floor) with CG. He made a comment about how the race was incredible, I commented how Snowshoe somehow always delivers exciting racing, and he made a few other comments about the perfect weather, incredible fans, and great vibe. I realize this was a single, random interaction but the guy seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the whole thing. It's an elevator ride, he could have said nothing. I'm not a huge fan of his commentary, but I don't think he deserves...

Man... I'd love to see Rob back but that's poor form in my opinion. The guy is trying and I see his game improving. I have noticed he has been popping up in the background of vlogs and track walk videos more often. Broadcasting is a tough game and I'm sure if we went back to Rob's first 9 races we wouldn't be that hard on Cedric. One of the things I love the most about watching downhill is rooting for everyone to do their best. I'm rooting for CG as well.
