Should have kept the dice on the side! Also looks/ sounds like a Hillbilly. I can get 3 hillbillys for the price of one HR. Seems the same no compromise soft Gravity casings. I'd spend the savings on burritos

Guessing you're a transplant to the South? Wink These things are everywhere in college and pro ball. Not sure they are that applicable to most of our falls, but can't imagine they hurt anything. Regardless, good thing to share as I bet most people on here haven't seen them. If we're going to start adopting things from (american) football, I humbly request, on behalf of all southeastern US riders, that we give some consideration to sweatbands being cool. It's really hot and humid down here, and getting worse. Also, if the set up Loic has goes to production, we should...

Danny Hart borrowing a rando's front wheel at the top of the track right before dropping in because of a flat issue is amazing.

Thanks Sspomer, Has anyone noticed a real change recently from open mindedly discussing/presenting rumours and innovations, to endless posts about "opinions as facts" on the topics? Maybe its just me, but I felt like this thread used to be more open to ideas, and just seeing cool things, and I'd like a return to that. These new things arent for everyone, and not every product is meant to be the perfect fit for everyone, which is friggin great, we should want diversity in the marketplace, shouldnt we? I feel like we have strayed from that recently.....

yep my range is 30kg, I'm a pretty big tall strong lad and it's too heavy. Bunnyhopping something the size of a curb takes incredible effort. I can literally feel my back and tricep muscles hurt. My old Merida E160 was around 23kg and that was fantastic. Full power but external battery.

haha agree... 57 lbs Kenevo from a few years ago (hence proto 38mm boxxer). I broke everything drivetrain wise on this- cassette, hub, derailleur, chain etc. Found an old EX8 kit- that finally lasted. I have ridden dirt bikes in the past, so this felt like a nice in-between. Definitely didn't ride like a normal MTB.

Orbea Wild (top build, lots of $$$ as counterpoint) is 46 pounds with full class leading power, full sized motor and 600ish wh battery. Given its success in the EEWS (or EEWC, or whatever its called now) I would say its "burly enough for heavy duty riding". I had this argument on the other site before getting my account suspended. Budget low power, or "SL" ebikes, seems to be a losing category business wise. They weigh too much for the assist provided. I feel like around 42 pounds is the tipping point (unrelated, thats what my DH bike weighed back...

Well, 9 days of bike park riding appears to have killed my fancy XO Transmission derailleur. Scratch all that stuff I said about reliability, I killed this one too! Thanks to KROE I'm going to try this Luddite Transmission idea. I already have the T-type parts and an XO shifter and found an XO derailleur on sale and I really like the idea of ditching the batteries and bluetooth. I also ordered the B bolt upgrade for my other bikes with GX drivetrains too so thanks for that idea. Vital forums FTW

I try to buy used, takeoff, or NIB tires from the Pinkbike buy/sell page, half because of the cost savings and half because of my hippie desire to contribute less to the consumption of petroleum and new products. If someone's getting rid of it, might as well get some mileage out of it. To be clear, I am 100% not buying a tire with more than a few runs on it. Typical price for a new or lightly used DH Maxxgrip tire is $40-60. And yes, $110 for a super soft rear tire that will last three days at a...

Very true. I was thinking back about when I worked for Trek 2011-2014. My trail bikes were regularly 27lbs- remedy/slash. But that was 26” wheels, 650g tires, 10 speed 11-36 cassette, 160 rotors and 4 lbs carbon frames. Everything broke regularly, flat tire once a week kinda thing.

I’m gonna go against the grain of most of you. I actually think the wireless only is a smart move. (Presuming they are releasing an alloy model that can run mechanical drivetrains). Having an already premium carbon bike that can only run wireless makes it seem a little “more premium.” People that drive Rivians and Teslas to the trail head will love that their bike is exclusively wireless. While the people that drive 20 year old lifted Tacomas will get the option of the alloy version. I’m sure specialized has done their homework and they know that the amount of...
