11/13/2025 10:09pm I think Southern California accounts for ~90% of ebikes as commuter/family/etc use. It's legitimately getting to the point where... We could use full on 'bikeways' for bicycles traveling at higher speeds than average joes on a beach cruiser but much slower than a motorcycle on a highway. Bring back the OG Pasadena Cycleway! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Cycleway (Especially with how poor the existing cycling infrastructure is... Now would be a good time to create separated paths if it gets the ebikes away from cars/pedestrians.) Sorry, obligatory 'traffic in LA' rant.

11/12/2025 8:14pm Having also worked as a shop mechanic, on bikes new and old (sometimes very, very old), my experience was that old parts can sometimes be repaired and can sometimes be replaced with a new (but possibly non-matching or lower-quality) replacement. And sometimes neither of those is possible. Managing customer expectations and communicating clearly is extremely important when it comes to that sort of thing. I have a great appreciation for the companies out there producing affordable replacement parts that can keep old bikes functional and out of the landfill. Even if those bikes are no longer "trail-worthy," many of them...

11/12/2025 4:05am You’re right, I should have been more precise with my wording. The Pro’s Closet didn’t technically file for bankruptcy (as far as I know), but by all practical measures, it was in that territory (likely Chapter 7 rather than 13). I also forgot they raised over $90M, which makes the whole story even more illustrative. Not that it matters, and its total semantics, but the reason I phrased it that way is because the company still exists in nearly the same form, same region (Boulder/Northern Front Range), many of the same employees, and even the same website. It’s not the...

11/8/2025 10:51pm Brown Sugar is Tuhoto, blue bus obviously Pivot. Laid back style would match that team and the Crankworx participation of PFR matches up with Tuhoto’s experience and success on that tour. Not sure anyone mentioned that before on this thread?

11/8/2025 4:15pm When were tech rumours banned from the tech rumours thread? Edit: Less sarcastic response: The e-bike thread is for non-tech-rumour related e-bike discussions. The e-bike discussion above however looks very much like tech rumours to me.

11/7/2025 10:25pm Honestly, here on the Vital forum's is the ONLY place I run into even the slightest mention of Tippie? I just seems a bit weird frankly.

11/6/2025 11:08am I am a Tippie fan, but can someone explain to me why he should get a ride over some up and comer? A very few amount of riders from his generation are still sponsored full time, even a much younger Gully works full time for Orbea not as a rider. Love the guy, but in times apparently so tight in the industry, why him and not someone current like the people who we talk about in this thread losing rides?

11/5/2025 3:18pm Their enduro team was done last year but they graciously kept me on board for this year with my contract having another year on it. Sounds obvious of course, but the bike industry isn't always so giving. The DH team took me in and I had a blast all year long, which was the main reason for doing DH at the end of the year. I just wanted to hang out with the team some more, and who wouldn't take the chance to race World Cup DH while they can. As for next year, stay tuned.

11/5/2025 8:17am Rotorua has only been a stop on the Crankworx world tour since 2015, so not very long and makes sense that you've missed it.
