overthinking, knobs on the Albert are taller than the ones on the assegai, all of them, but, it's pretty packed so in the softest dirt/mud it can pack, mary is the one you want for softer terrain, Tacky would be sweet but it's not a thing yet

4/13/2025 10:17pm I would agree the super trail casing feels noticeably stiffer than exo and can probably benefit from a slightly lower pressure if all else is equal. I don't love the orange soft compound as a front tire but am fine with it on the back wheel.

Following up on this: I've since installed a Noken, went for a ride, got my fork serviced and then went for another ride. The Noken really is exactly like removing an extra token. A solidly tangible improvement to the spring curve (for me). It did get rid of the wallow like I was hoping. The fork service (lowers and air spring) improved sensitivity, as you'd expect. The tech noted there was "an abundance" of grease in the air spring. I'd rate this less noticeable than the addition of the Noken, but still worth doing. I recommend the Noken (or Flux)...

3/22/2025 8:49am My experience has been that Hayes rotors howl at a lower pitch than some, but just as loudly (when wet with metallic pads).

If you haven't already, disassemble your air spring and remove excess grease in the negative chamber. That can cause all kinds of problems.

I've read both opinions and I'm sure it has a lot to do with rider weight and aggression. I'm outing myself as cautious and slow, but at 175lbs I can only use the open end of adjustments. It may also be worth noting the bike is a little older and has the classic rearward weight balance. I bought the fork from Jenson in retail packaging so I would doubt it's been touched.

That sounds to me more like an issue with too much damping. I found all 38s way too overdamped for my 70kg of fairly aggressive riding.

I think it's a bit of a grip2 problem. You're very right that the 38 is heavily damped. I'm a little heavier than you and I run HSC wide open, LSC a couple clicks from open to reduce dive. I can open up the LSC for an improvement in ride quality, but at the cost of support and it still doesn't use full travel. The way I interpret that is the damper could be better, and maybe I'm a candidate for a gripX2, but the spring is also too progressive. With more linearity I should be able to keep the...

I've been interested in the Noken for my 38 and this review sealed the deal. I almost never get full travel but more importantly, my 38 does not seem to get more plush with reduced pressure past a point. It just wallows more without working any better over small bumps. Thanks 👍

Orbital sander + 120 grit pad 20-30 seconds on each side x2 using medium pressure. This is how I prep my rotors when changing pad compounds/brands. I even do this when changing pads to fresh ones. Never let me down.

We all know the theory: lower tire pressures mean more grip, and higher pressures roll faster. But when it comes to real-world speed, which one really wins? Jason going for the jugular here. Sorry but I'm gonna keep rocking the sunglasses with the FF so I can climb conveniently and than, when I reach the top I'll take a sip from my second bottle that's on my hip pack. Don't worry though Jason, if you have a flat, you can use my proper sized hand pump that's in the pack too.
