If you haven't already, disassemble your air spring and remove excess grease in the negative chamber. That can cause all kinds of problems.

I've read both opinions and I'm sure it has a lot to do with rider weight and aggression. I'm outing myself as cautious and slow, but at 175lbs I can only use the open end of adjustments. It may also be worth noting the bike is a little older and has the classic rearward weight balance. I bought the fork from Jenson in retail packaging so I would doubt it's been touched.

That sounds to me more like an issue with too much damping. I found all 38s way too overdamped for my 70kg of fairly aggressive riding.

I think it's a bit of a grip2 problem. You're very right that the 38 is heavily damped. I'm a little heavier than you and I run HSC wide open, LSC a couple clicks from open to reduce dive. I can open up the LSC for an improvement in ride quality, but at the cost of support and it still doesn't use full travel. The way I interpret that is the damper could be better, and maybe I'm a candidate for a gripX2, but the spring is also too progressive. With more linearity I should be able to keep the...

I've been interested in the Noken for my 38 and this review sealed the deal. I almost never get full travel but more importantly, my 38 does not seem to get more plush with reduced pressure past a point. It just wallows more without working any better over small bumps. Thanks 👍

Orbital sander + 120 grit pad 20-30 seconds on each side x2 using medium pressure. This is how I prep my rotors when changing pad compounds/brands. I even do this when changing pads to fresh ones. Never let me down.

We all know the theory: lower tire pressures mean more grip, and higher pressures roll faster. But when it comes to real-world speed, which one really wins? Sorry but I'm gonna keep rocking the sunglasses with the FF so I can climb conveniently and than, when I reach the top I'll take a sip from my second bottle that's on my hip pack. Don't worry though Jason, if you have a flat, you can use my proper sized hand pump that's in the pack too.

So brakes, rims, your cable ends, as far as complexity I wanted to bring some perspective. I’m an engineer and have worked in consumer goods manufacturing my whole adult life; “Simple” stuff you use every day at home. Most anything is easy to design in the grand scheme of things. I owned codes before getting dominions. All I'd say is that it took me a while to get used to the light lever action and I found myself locking up unintentionally a lot to begin with. Several months on, however, my fingers are reprogrammed and it's second nature and I'm reaping the rewards with 1. less hand/arm fatigue and 2. More confidence because there's just silly amounts of braking power available on tap with very little effort. You'll learn to modulate over time if you stick with it.

I went back to 11 speed on all of my bikes about 4 years ago. I find it far less finicky than 12 speed to set up and spending less on wear items suits me fine.
