So brakes, rims, your cable ends, as far as complexity I wanted to bring some perspective. I’m an engineer and have worked in consumer goods manufacturing my whole adult life; “Simple” stuff you use every day at home. Most anything is easy to design in the grand scheme of things. Manufacturing anything on the other hand is hard. Everything you use everyday, I guarantee you is 100x more difficult and complex to produce then you can imagine. Some of these simple assemblies we ride probably meant a team of people worked months and beat their head on a wall to...

I owned codes before getting dominions. All I'd say is that it took me a while to get used to the light lever action and I found myself locking up unintentionally a lot to begin with. Several months on, however, my fingers are reprogrammed and it's second nature and I'm reaping the rewards with 1. less hand/arm fatigue and 2. More confidence because there's just silly amounts of braking power available on tap with very little effort. You'll learn to modulate over time if you stick with it.

Speaking of Cominions. I finally got myself a pair of Dominions, so I can compare them to my Cominions (Code RSC levers, Dominion A4 calipers). The two setups have nothing in common except the calipers. Pads, rotors, and wheel sizes are all different. I can't make any useful observations about power. This post is all about feel. Both levers are...

I went back to 11 speed on all of my bikes about 4 years ago. I find it far less finicky than 12 speed to set up and spending less on wear items suits me fine.

Don't think pedals spin in an oval. If your foot sits on top of the axle for a traditional flat pedal, it basically does that throughout the whole circular motion. The only catch here is that your circle center is not the center of the BB, it's offset by the same amount your feet is off the axle of the pedal. The black circle is what the crank/pedal spindle spins, at the center of that is the BB. Red is what you might be experiencing with a traditional flat pedal today, where you're offset positive at the same amount for...

The Pendulum pedals join the MRP Noken as another recent product release fulfilling my MTB fever dreams. Stuff I wished for but didn't think would ever actually exist.

I respect your hill but as the owner of a full 29, 29/27.5 mullet, full 27.5, and a 27.5/26 mullet, I can confirm that switching between each brings a whole lot more fun into my life than pigeon-holing myself into only riding wagon wheels. To each their own!

I will and report back, but I can tell you most reviews are great for codes r and rsc and I find the first pure garbage, the second a tad better Still require a lot of effort to slow down in the steep

That new high roller is so tempting! I absolutely loved the Continental Argotal this year for my riding terrain but I am stuck with using a DH casing 1300g tire just to get the super soft compound. As a 160lb rider it is overkill for me. I know Kryptotal SS Enduro is on the way but does anyone know if Argotal SS Enduro is also in the works? If not then this Exo+ High Roller might be the ticket.

i objectively want your bike. yeah I didn't expect them to be the best, they sound like they're designed to be run with tubes if anything. the WTBs on the Konas are kinda like that I hate those rims. much prefer some DTs or even Stans. speaking of me hating on every industry standard that exists. getting sick of my pedals basically hitting the floor. not rocks or roots but literally just the trail floor if its even slightly off camber or if i drop a foot for a second. make BBs high and unstable again. i'd rather have an...

Cant help but wonder if you guys would like the setup I'm running, Code RSC levers and Dominion calipers. In some ways it hits the high points of both systems: Sram lever shape, contact point adjust, and modulation, but with more power. Downsides, though, are you don't get the light Hayes lever feel and also don't get bleeding edge or the Code's generous pad rollback.

There's nothing wrong in being thoughtful about controlling variables and if you're taking the time to do an experiment you should do your best here, but you can control as many equipment factors as you like in a test like this and still not be addressing major sources of variation (i.e. explanation for the outcome you're watching) -- the rider. Not only is the rider not in the same mental and physical condition between runs and line choice may vary, but the brake has almost no qualities worth measuring that exist independent of how the rider is using the brake...
