Regarding Semi-Finals: It needs to go away and should follow the super cross model of Last Chance Qualifier. Every race it should look something like this (for the men, numbers would be smaller for women): -All races at the world cup have to put in a qualy run, which is their seeding for finals. Top 10 in the overall are protected to the finals. -Top 40 racers via qualifying make it to the finals -There is a Last Chance Qualifier run (instead of semi-finals), that is televised since it's high stakes, for those that didn't make the top 40 and...

So I used to really compare CS with reach and I learned that the more important number is the front center vs chainstay. S2 Enduro wheelbase: 1217 cs 442 Front center 775 weight biased: 63.68% front 36.62% rear In my opinion that’s a pretty stable, balanced bike for front and rear traction. But it depends what you, the riders wants out of the bike. Stable traction or loose and sliding around rear end. “Generally, though, the longer the wheelbase the less the distribution of the rider’s weight is affected by braking, gradient changes or bumpy terrain. In this sense, a...

Can’t say I’ve seen this bike before, so I’m guessing it’s something new from fezzari? That’s nik nestoroff on the bike. New dh bike? Or long travel bike with a 40?

It's pretty cool that Fox appears to be using generative design to save weight on the arch and crown. If you're not familiar with generative design, here's a definition from Autodesk: Generative design is a design exploration process. Designers or engineers input design goals into the generative design software, along with parameters such as performance or spatial requirements, materials, manufacturing methods, and cost constraints. The software explores all the possible permutations of a solution, quickly generating design alternatives. It tests and learns from each iteration what works and what doesn’t. My first thought when I saw this post was that Fox should probably sort out their non-hollow normal crowns before they start casting cavities and holes in them.

Hoof it got pulled right after I read it: to sum up what I remember: big difference with the SD is an early stroke oil bypass, after the first 30% of travel the main piston engages, plus the HBO seen on the SD. Retail price between $550 and $580 depending on stroke. Did I miss anything? BTW, I guess that press release article means it's already in the hands of journalists. Must be close to a release. I don't think they will introduce a new Vivid coil, or at least it's not being tested at WCs.

You guys know that Greg must be reading this thread too at some point and smiling at the things people assume what they know about him and what they believe he will do, right? This interest in a person alone, stemming from multiple people from across the globe is worth more than a bit, if we talk about marketing. As far as I am concerned, I was lucky enough to cross paths with Greg a few times in this lifetime. First one was at Kaprun 2002, a race I hitchhiked to. I ended up watching the 4-cross qualies with Greg...

What edr needs most is to return to being a destination series with a focus on quality trails, experience, and a serious fitness requirement that served a purpose at the more remote rounds. It’s fine if a couple venues are regulars and a couple a year are at bike parks but what drew riders, media, and fans a like was that it was this pinnacle version of the sport to aspire too. they just keep dumbing it down into something nobody is interested in. And attaching these events to dh is severely limiting their ability to draw riders, have quality...

Recent pod I listened to with Dan Wolfe was really good in going over history and development of enduro. Dan's idea, which I think is a cool one, is to make EDR enduro two days again. Have one massive backcountry day that served as a "quali" for a more park-focused day that could be broadcast (stage DH racing, basically). I like this idea as well, because you could harvest narratives from the big day that are in the spirit of enduros (Jack Moir fixed his flat by stuffing grass into it, etc..), which you could weave into the broadcast on...

Idk, Greg commentated with Rob on one of the hardlines a few years ago. He was okay, but not great iirc. His monotone and kinda slow speaking voice never sounds excited. He's not exactly loquacious in interviews. All due respect to the goat, just not sure commentary would be a good fit. Subsequent hardlines with Rob and Rachel or Rob and Reece Wilson seemed better (to me anyhow). It'd be interesting to see how Wyn would do in the commentary box, he's another one that'll might retire from racing soon.

One thing I’d like to point out is that there isn’t a single region of travel that controls bottom out resistance. Bottom out resistance includes all the work your shock does to slow you down between its initial starting point when you impact and bottom of travel. In the case of a drop to flat it’s the area under that force curve plus whatever amount of damping you’ve chosen to add. So the blue curve has significantly more bottom out resistance than the one that sits below it. I feel like the bike industry perpetuates the idea that just the...

ORTOGONAL555 Liked a reply to forum topic MTB Pedal Size vs. Moto Footpeg Size

8/8/2023 11:13am
I think it's because ideally you always maintain perfect contact between feet and pedals, while footpegs allow to move your foot around more, as you do while riding. Neing skinnier allow the footpeg to dig in the sole of the boot while the foot is pointed both downward and upward, you can't really do that with pedals as the edge won't dig into the sole, but instead you rely on the pedal axle to get the desired ankle flexion and extension (think dropping the heels).

I'm shocked Flight Attendant didn't originate on the SID and SIDLuxe considering remote lockouts are way more common in XC.
