CarolinaCrawler Added a reply to Reserve rim warranty
12/30/2025 7:58pm On this note, has anyone dealt with raceface's wheel warranty? Just picked up a set of ARC 30 HD rims and wondering.

12/30/2025 7:01pm I had a good day out on the XT/Maven's with redline likewater. No issues. No wandering bite. Just light level pull and absurdly strong brakes. I'll be sticking with this setup for the foreseeable future. Will be interesting to see how the long term reliability is, and how the bleed holds up.

12/25/2025 8:11pm Had the same problem with 4(!) Magura calipers, I emailed them and they sent me new calipers with pads and a small bottle of their brake fluid. My plan is to use them until they start weeping again and then try trp calipers with Shimano levers.

12/24/2025 6:35pm I tried Shigura's but had leaky caliper seals also. I didn't even fight it but went through 2 sets of pads (I've never been able to salvage brake pads that get contaminated) and just swapped them out for slx. I have 5-6 sets of Shimano 4 piston brakes and only ONE has the wandering bite point. I would love to...

12/17/2025 7:38pm I just wrap the screw with some Plummers tape and it keeps them from leaking. Never had a problem after I started doing that. I do take extra care on making sure its just on the threads.

12/17/2025 7:38pm Next up on shaven brake test: Saint / Maven I used Saint brakes for two months in Whistler last summer and never noticed any bite point wandering like the XT’s. The Saint lever is a slightly different design from the XT. The servowave is a metal cutout from the lever body rather than a plastic guide piece. Does this change the pumping up wander action? I have no idea. The relative steepness of most trails in Whistler bike park is not very extreme, so that may play a role in not having the wandering issue. Santa Cruz steep trails are...

12/17/2025 7:36pm TRP / Maven update. I rode Santa Cruz with the Travens today. The total power on tap with the TRP lever is similar to with the XT lever. The bite point feel with both is relatively solid. The TRP does have more modulation though. It’s easier to lock up a wheel with the XT lever - very little force needed. The TRP lever has exceptionally light pull, but it does have a longer lever throw compared to the XT (or maven lever). The best feature of the TRP is that there is no brake pump / wandering out bite point...

12/16/2025 6:32am Blown away when the Method Man dropped. Like the actual visceral feeling you get when you see a rider you like with a proper run time video from a brand that does good work and the music is fire and the filming and editing is good and the track/zone is SICK... It's ALL coming together. Gave me the feeling I got as a kid popping in DVDs of the best skate/BMX videos. You KNEW it was going to be good. They couldn't afford for it to be bad. Despite saturation, kinda hard to get that feeling these days. The only...

12/11/2025 6:19am I'm 6'2 and 260lbs and I've had Yamaha, Shimano, Bafang and Fazua bikes. I have found them all to be adequate motors. I currently ride the Fazua bike and love it because its a BURLY build but only weighs 46lbs (which is 10lbs or 20% lighter than my full powered ebike). Riding by myself I have no problems and even...

12/11/2025 6:11am Yeah. It's just a long-stroked sight. I don't know why they didn't make this a 180/180, dual crown compatible, to create more separation between the bikes. I bought the C2 sight when it first came out and put a 38 and a coil on it. Maybe just call it a Sight LT.

12/11/2025 5:57am Privateer bikes have very limited selection on their website. They usually have a new batch delivery date on their sold out bikes but nothing right now. Hopefully launching a new gen in the new year and not a financial issue.

11/29/2025 7:15pm I'm really glad you are testing the Base lever with the regular Maven caliper. I really like a non swing link/servo wave, linear brake lever. That's one of the reasons I want to try the DB8 lever with the Maven caliper. I've also had very good luck and feel with the DB8. I threw some 2.3 mil thick, 220mm rotors...

11/29/2025 7:09pm I'm currently doing a long term test of the Maven Base for Vital, after running the Maven Ultimate for a long time. I'm super impressed with the lever feel on the Maven Base. There's way more modulation and control compared to the Ultimate, which felt much more like an on/off switch and took a long time for me to get used to. I prefer the feel of the Base brake more, although it has less total stopping power. Could be just what you're looking for you want more power but don't want the on/off feel of the Ultimate. The Base...

11/29/2025 10:25am I’m thinking of getting a set of Bronze calipers to use as a direct bolt in for db8 calipers. I know from another forum that Shimano banjos are a direct bolt on. I have personally tried TRP calipers with Shimano banjos, so I’m pretty sure the banjos are all compatible. I just picked up a set of TRP trail evos...

11/29/2025 10:21am If you go with the maven bronze calipers you can use most other brands hoses, because it uses the sram “stealthamajig” olive at the caliper. You don’t have to use sram brake line (expensive) or worry about banjo bolt compatibility if using shimano / trp brake line. I have some maven bronze calipers waiting to be put on my xt servowave levers.

11/25/2025 6:41am I have a couple sets of their LHP S6 brake if you'd like to grab a set. They're 6 piston brakes with a +20mm post mount built into the caliper. Could be the perfect heavy duty brake for you.
