What I Learned Starting a Tire Insert Company

looks like I missed this one: I assume you mean the wheel is imbalanced because rim saver isn't a perfect ring of material. I like to use this example: A brass tubeless valve weighs about 18g. The overlapping section of our rim saver and bungee weigh about 10g, plus our valve is aluminum so its only 6g. The imbalance from having a rim saver installed with its valve is still less than the imbalance of using a brass tubeless valve, and you don't notice the imbalance of a brass tubeless valve. Is it perfectly balanced? no, but does it matter? So far, it doesn't seem to and its not noticeable. 

The valve has breather holes on the side so that if Rim Saver is on top of it, air can still flow through the valve. Like on a Cush Core valves. Not everyone's valves have these holes built in so we provide them so make sure it's going to work.

V1 had the valve integrated into the rim saver itself so it kinda had to have a valve that came with it. Now that we are on V2 we could sell it without the valves (if you're looking for that let me know I can arrange that). Honestly, the more sku's we add the more time it takes to manage the business with very little return on that time. Let's look at this scenario through the 80/20 rule. Though some people may want no valves or custom colored valves, the return on that effort is probably not worth it and should be spent on something like: nurturing relationships with distributors, instead. I literally only have time to do a few things for rim saver each month, so I have to choose to focus on the things that are more likely to grow the business.  Not a super fun answer but in a world where we barely have time to operate the business as is, adding more complexity to manage isn't very appealing, especially if we aren't making notably more revenue from that effort. Does that make sense? It's a boring answer... but it's the truth.

We're on our 5th iteration and that's what is currently shipping. We've solved some little issues we were having with earlier versions. The bungee was ripping thru the plastic with time and we are having slow leaks from the valve when it was connected to the insert itself. We've since solved those issues by changing how the bungee mounts, reinforcing that area, and no longer having the valve interface with the Rim Saver.
