Listening to Bruni's comments this year I've found him very self centred and selective in his opinions. He's talked about the disadvantage of starting last and having to ride a deteriorated track, whilst ignoring how it can sometimes be an advantage (he arguably had better conditions than riders who went earlier at both Loudenvielle and MSA ). If I'm paying money for something that used to be free, I better get something more for paying than I used to get when it was free. Being smart with money has nothing to do with being a fan of the sport.

The season as a whole was very good but the coverage and overall package just lacked the lovely feel that the RBTV show used to have. For me the worst part by far was the commentary. The repetitive reference to speed and heart rate of the riders is irritating. CG is no Rob Warner and Rick is not much better. I watched some races with the sound turned down and music on the hifi. Gwin saved the last two races but still had to battle the inane interruptions of Rick and CG. Camera work was dismal at times. At MSA...

If there was a race every weekend then perhaps it wouldn't be as big of a problem. But with only 7-8 rounds in the year they can't do this. Every race is super important, varying tracks and conditions make it more competitive, its supposed to be a WORLD Cup. The best racer in the world should be able to navigate a slippery mudder. Maybe they don't win, but they do well enough, score some points toward the overall.

Gutted For any privateer juniors who made the trip. Lots of these kids and their parents are sacrificing big to try to make the dream happen.

As of now, I'm not planning to pay to watch WCDH next season. Gave it a chance this year. As a fan, I want to understand what's going on. Every race is more confusing. The qualie-semi-final format is a waste of time. Either make the change you want or don't -- 60 or 30. Frankly I was stoked to see a 60 rider field last week. The coverage is confusing, lacking, boring, sometimes nauseating (hello, drone footage), and rife with errors. Isn't the puropse of the breakaway to mimick a traditional derailleur and protect the servo motor gears from being damaged from an impact? A cable operated derailleur (except Shimano's rapid-rise experiment) can already move inboard quite far since it doesn't tension the cable in that direction. You can shift into lager cogs pushing your thumb on the cage without using the shifter if you want to. Without pedaling it'll bind mechanically after about 5mm, but so will an AXS system. It's only going to be a matter of time until this works its way onto all levels of SRAM drivetrains...

Mag or Al? I have a feeling the Mag Vaults are crap compared to the Al. Also for reference, I'm in the PNW and ride often in the wet.

Conversely, I've got over 2,000 miles on a set of Vaults with no rebuild yet. Everything is still tight and no squeaks. Still have all the pins, too. I like them so much I bought 2 more pairs for my other bikes. Our trails are very rooty with just a small amount of rock, and they close when wet. So the only wet conditions they see are creek crossings. Maybe that's the difference?
