My read is that the new xd slim driver was introduced because the Shimano mini-hg driver has existed for years for DH wheels, and someone at SRAM thought "hey, that's a pretty good idea". The primary reason for the mini-hg / xd-slim drivers is that it allows you to have wider flange spacing on the hub, arguably increasing wheel stiffness/strength. Being able to transition a 157 12 speed wheel into a 148 DH specific wheel is interesting, but there are not many people who are going to re-dish a wheel to go between two relatively uncommon standards in the bike...

I had no idea that’s how people were racing SS. As a SS aficionado, I’ve seen a few workarounds with the slope style tensioners, one of them advertises the biggest compatible rear cog is 17t but plenty of guys have squeezed in an 18t and made it work. Other guys have used the Wolf Tooth goat link along with the slope style tensioners to clear a bigger cog. I had a 7 speed DH derailleur in my parts bin, I’m running that with 32x18 on my epic. I just built it up so no ride reports yet.

I would love to see Madrone make a SS tensioner at a more reasonable price.

It looks great but $381 for a chain tensioner is crazy. It's more that the Madrone Jab

$381? This is for blinglespeeds, not singlespeeds.

Can we please not turn this into a d*ck-measuring contest regarding who rides which steep thing w/ which gearing?

My impression has been that most posters in this thread agree that GB with chain or belt have a justifiable place in gravity bikes. It's their use in XC and trail bikes that get pedaled a lot that is still a point of contention. Also, I'm not sure if this is common knowledge here, but a new discovery for me was that eCVTs with dual motors provide infinite gear ratios using just a single planetary gear stage with no belts or chains internally, which can bump up the efficiency over older belt or chain-driven CVTs substantially - probably something like...

I am shocked, shocked to find marketing hyperbole at play in the bike industry.

I would argue that reducing Q-factor is not always a good thing. I actually prefer a wider Q-factor.

Fair point about weights converging but prices are not yet converging and likely never will. The cost premium of a new Levo over a new Status is around $2,000. Another issue is access. Here in North Carolina the only place that really justifies an ebike is Pisgah. I'd love an ebike to shorten the gravel death marches up Avery Creek...

From PB-"I just found out about the allegations. And I have to say, I’m not shocked. There was always something about him that rubbed me the wrong way, even when he was seeing some success, I wasn’t stoked." You see this is the level of informed discourse we should aspire to on here.

Thanks friend. I guess it was time to make an account after all, haha. To clarify a few things: - Yes, the title is abrasive, but I feel that I’ve justified that opinion in (too much) detail throughout the video. I’m not on YouTube to make money, considering I make less than C$4 RPM after tax. I also never pushed my resume/background in my video. - After I connected the rear brake, I cycled the pistons to probably 50% of what was recommended in the manual to ensure they were moving smoothly, which they were. I noticed minimal difference between...
