Microspine drivers are a blight against humanity and should die in a fire along with the stupid plastic spacer they require to prevent Shimano cassettes from creaking like a haunted house. The only thing that might be worse than the microspine interface and its woefully anemic, made of cheese, lock ring might be the actual cassettes themselves which in the year of our lord 2026 still are half singe piece pinned garbage that falls apart and half stamped metal plates with spacers. Things get a little tricky when you step down to 30T using OChain and especially the adjustable models. They don't have a symmetrical design like some of their fixed versions. There is a hump on top that needs to be cleared. Sure you can take a Wolftooth ring and use a Dremel to get that clearance or buy something that is designed around that hump. source: I went through analysis paralysis trying to find a OChain and t-type certified 104BCD chain ring in 2024. I don't think this is really true. The transmission cassette was reshaped to move the granny cog outboard. Eagle began with a dished cassette. If you measure from the back of the cassette where it indexes against the hub, you will see that the new transmission cassette is exactly 3mm less dished than the old eagle cassette which compensates for the shift from a 52 to 55mm chainline in the granny gear. I compared the XX SL transmission cassette to a 10-52t xx1 eagle cassette so if this is different on like some other versions; I have honestly no idea...

I've been to Primoz' neck of the woods and would like to add that: You should absolutely go to that neck of the woods to ride if you get a chance. Primoz raced cross country for years before switching to longer travel bikes, and was fitter than me when we rode together. He's a great host and I cannot recommend Bled Cream Cake enough. Yeah, as someone who does HR based zone-oriented training a <32t is pretty amazing when i need to haul a heavy bike up something in zone 2. Sure I could ignore what I'm trying to accomplish on that ride and muscle my way up things and blow myself up in the process, but that's not always what you need to be doing. And yes, I do go to a gym. My guess is that people who are saying "real bikers only need 32t" haven't actually ever followed a formal training plan, which tend to involve a lot of time in...

I wrote this on Pinkbike but will crosspost here to as I firmly believe ABS should not be involved in WCDH. I'm all for innovation in DH and I am absolutely fine with electronics in suspension but I strongly believe that ABS has no place in competitive DH. Braking ability and threshold braking are massively important skill that do separate riders. Having a system that would theoretically allow a rider to just full pull brake but not lock the wheels would be a huge advantage on most tracks and certainly would for low grip tracks or conditions. I got a good ride in on the Tacky Chan Gravity Pro. These finally are the radials for me. They roll fast, brake well, dig into loose dirt, and don't squirm on hardpack or smashing berms. In the new Grav Pro casing, the radial effect seems less than when I tried the Albert or MM, but I think that's for the better. They feel kinda slightly more muted than a normal casing most of the time, but if you hit roots they conform really well rather than pinging off. Hope HB.912 Hope’s new HB.912 trail bike looks awfully sleek. 120mm rear wheel travel, 130mm fork, four-bar linkage, and in-house-made frame. Definitely one of those bikes that can fly under the radar, but the longer you look at it, the more you appreciate it. The bike should be available closer to summer, with the frameset starting at ~$5,400 USD.

It’s more just a region based thing in my opinion. I know friends in the pnw who get way more tire life compared to down south. Steep and dry trails are a perfect recipe to wear through tires
