Specialized demos had ohlins with spherical bearings in like 2017. I actually went back to traditional bushings as any sort of sideways landing would pop the rose joint out of the eyelet, the shock would then contact the inside of the frame and ruin a carbon one. Good In theory but execution was lacking. Pretty sure geometron do they same in their bikes with EXT’s

Meh, i’s wait a few more years until they get their QC sorted. Mine was sidelined almost all summer with warranty issues. Got it back, one ride, back in for another warranty.bike is great when it’s not in the shop.

I can't imagine anything worse than having to wait for shifts. But I'd take a direct mount mechanical derailleur any day.

I'll be interested to see the new E29 for sure as it seems that Spesh is leaning in to slack STAs & short CSs. The new E29 could be a step backwards.

I suspect you're right, but that's a shame from a structural standpoint. Oversized tubes need to have thin walls to stay reasonably light, which means they're more vulnerable to things like rock strikes and impacts, even if they're technically strong enough to handle the loads of normal riding. I was a huge fan of the gen.1 carbon V10 because the tubes were small in diamter and the walls were super thick, so the front triangle was basically invincible.
