2/26/2026 2:53pm There is a wide variance when it comes to bearing size, axle interface, and end cap interface amongst hub manufacturers. With the one-piece lower leg design of a conventional fork, these variances don't really play a big role. With an inverted fork, the hub ties the two stanchions together to keep the legs from moving independently of each other. The more robust the hub, the more robust the entire system is. Hubs like the I9 Hydra, and Hope Pro, for example, use a large bearing with hub end caps that interface with the ID of the bearing. This provides good...

2/26/2026 5:13am RAAW addressed this issue by using modular dropouts. They first did it with their Yalla DH bike which has now trickled down to their Madonna v3.2. This is what the DH industry might head towards to accommodate UDH. Also can we take a moment to drool over how the black and silver SRAM design works with the RAAW frames 🤤

2/26/2026 5:12am The switch to UDH has been going on for a little bit now. There are some notable exceptions like the V10 and Supreme V5 (although there's a new Supreme on the way, Jason was riding it in the review videos). Here's a few using UDH... 2/24/2026 9:57am Thanks for the follow-up @sspomer ... I watched the video and re-read the article. I'm still not entirely sure if he's making assumptions based on the changes or had this exact info told to him. -Wandering bite point and "pump out" are different phenomena. I believe (from everything I've heard, the wandering bite point/inconsistency is the bigger issue. He seems to be talking a lot about 'pump out' though. He references the new swing link and lower hydraulic pressure (from the smaller 18mm piston instead of 19mm) as 'fixing' these issues because it lets the pistons retract more easily. That...

2/24/2026 9:54am From the latest Specialized Gravity YT video it looks like the riders are going to use the airbag. Meyer-Smith was using it at hardline which probably wasn't just a one-off thing then. I wonder if they will develop a DH-specific deployment algorithm.

2/24/2026 4:27am There's probably a few reasons - A full size schraeder valve will reduce frame clearance or IFP volume, and both are usually at a premium already. Picture below is a DVO with full size schrader, vs a Fox X2 cap The sunken schraeder design like rockshox and new fox shocks is actually a standard part - its the same thread as inside a regular schraeder and is also ubiquitous in the HVAC industry. So the adapter is easy to find is fine to use with a standard shock pump I like the pellet sealing systems, it does seem to give...

2/21/2026 4:19am Since I've been reading all the comments, I wanted to clarify that there's a world of difference between these two genres of responses that keep popping up in this thread: "Previously I'd never ventured beyond the manufacturer's recommended size for my height, but then I tried sizing up and it's my preferred frame size now". vs. "I've tried many different frame sizes, including bikes that are bigger and smaller than recommended, and I'm pretty confident that I know what my preferred size is. However, I'm stuck choosing between two sizes on a bike I'm looking at, one that I know...
