3/20/2026 11:42pm Will be interesting to see the breadth of impacts on this one. Which major bike/outdoor companies products are using lycra materials? Disruption to the root of textile supply chain is whopper.

3/19/2026 12:10pm Noel is a high quality, honest human being. Had the pleasure of knowing and working with him for many years. He lives the brand and will always do right by his customers. I hope they come out of this. Wishing the best for Noel, the staff, and their families. Tough times....

3/19/2026 12:10pm Just got this from Knolly: A Message from Noel Buckley I'm going to keep this simple because you deserve that. The last few years have been the hardest this industry has ever seen, and Knolly has not been immune. But we have been fighting through it: restructuring costs, tightening operations, and doing the difficult work of right-sizing the business to match a new reality. We were making progress. That progress was cut short. Our bank, RBC, has made the decision to call in our account. This comes at a time when RBC is posting record annual profits, $20.4 billion last...

3/13/2026 11:33pm We will see. Unlike most people in this thread, I'm not as much of a believer that $100/bbl oil = more (specialty bike) sales. It may drive some mobility e bike sales, but I don't think its the needle mover everyone else thinks it is, especially when it comes to mountain biking. Also, as a reminder, oil was over $100/bbl for most of the early 2010s and I don't remember it being a huge driver to the bicycle industry's success. Energy costs eat into everything and generally leaves people feeling poorer. Its inflationary. So if anything I'm more a believer...

3/6/2026 10:49pm A bit of (very) good news for enduro racing. It seems that one of the series that was a pillar in the creation of the EWS is coming back. Something tells me this could end up having a big impact on our sport. https://www.instagram.com/superenduromtb/

3/6/2026 12:47pm I noticed in the past that there was a certain tipping point.. Usually once it got too far past 5/gallon the potential new bike commuters seem to taper off.. My guess is that the money that might have gone towards the bike ended up in the gas tank before they could make the purchase..

3/3/2026 10:26pm Speaking for the US only, cycling infrastructure is terrible across the country with only a few bright spots. I have commuted by bike for twenty years and have had so many near death experiences. Public transit in the US is also woefully underfunded and underdeveloped. That’s by design since the US political system has been corrupted by petroleum/auto money for nearly a century. (also add in distance and weather realities) And I could go on…

2/28/2026 6:35am Here's a rough idea. I'm sure there are some details missing, and despite my best efforts, this rabbit hole has some twists. So you have Mark Hancock, co-founder of PACS Group, owner of 323 skilled nursing facilities in 17 states. Current net worth estimated at $2.4 billion. PACS went public on the NYSE in 2024 at $21/share, currently at ~$36.50, and Hancock reportedly still holds 35%. The chart, since IPO had some wild moments, but seems to be back on track. Obviously, a very successful entrepreneur at this stage. In April of 2024, Hancock's own PV3 Investments (later PV3 Enterprises)...

2/17/2026 1:37pm When I was talking onshore, I was thinking about in the future.. Like 5+ years.. Especially given the 3 year product cycles we see for most models.. But, the reality is that it's a lot easier to send the work to Taiwan than it is to bring it back here.. Interesting bit on Ralpha.. I never had much experience with their products, but they definitely seem like a company that pushed an image to try and create a perceived value..

2/17/2026 1:33pm “Onshoring” and “No new investments” are kinda mutually exclusive, aren’t they? I work with a few people who have worked for Rapha in the last 7 years. That brand is super duper marketing heavy, in terms of where the money goes. It’s painful to think how the marketing investments over the last 7 years could have more than paid for building and buying the assets to cut stitch and sew clothing in closer to just-in-time and less seasonal/collection based model. About 10 years ago I consulted for a domestic stitch and sew outfit that was inporting italian thread and fabric...

2/6/2026 11:38am Yeah communication is key. Many shops are smaller crews but having a competent service writer would be huge for most shops. I always found that taking the time to measure chain wear/rotor thickness/pad thickness in front of customers did a few things. 1. It shows you are measuring and not guessing which helps build trust 2. It gives you the time to explain why these things wear and how they affect performance, which again helps build trust. If a customer sees you do a a check over I always found they are more likely to trust your assessments in the...

2/6/2026 2:24am I agree 100%. I wrote something along those lines and ended up not posting it, fearing it would be too confrontational. Im here mostly because bikes are RAD, but, Being a foreigner, I also found so much joy learning (and ocassionaly, sharing) the different points of view, and even ways of life, that come from beeing from another continent. The most important bike is not the one you love but the one that gets the work done.
