1/6/2026 2:10pm Regurgitated post from another thread but this EDR grieving thread seems appropriate... EWS/EDR is mostly directly supported by the COMMUNITY of riders that are actively participating in Enduro racing, not random bored YouTube and HBO algorithm drifters. At least to me the most successful period of EWS was when there was a well promoted international web of qualifier events and 100/80 events along side the Elite races. People could actually aspire to racing an elite event and the pathway was clearly defined. Or there was the option to race an 80 to justify the trip out to watch elites Sunday...

1/6/2026 2:09pm They shouldn't have tried to make it in anyway live. Check out on YT the previous race coverage from 2018/2019 - you had Ric riding the stages before hand with Chris Ball (before he sold out) doing a preview, and then a what happened last time video and finally a results video - they were a much better format for coverage. Edit - when I say live I mean televised. Live timing results - definitely good.

1/6/2026 2:08pm I think that sponsors tightening their belts is a large part of it. Enduro programs have been scaled back across the industry. I suspect at this point there just isn't enough financial support across the industry for the number of riders needed to make it worthwhile.

1/1/2026 9:29pm 1. Vali and Gracey are neck and neck all year. My CDN heart wants Gracey to win, but Vali doesn't fold and wins again. 2. It's not even close. Jackson smokes the field. 3. Very few new bikes are sold. Tell me how you convince a guy with a 22 Hightower (just an example), that a new bike is going to change his world.

1/1/2026 9:29pm While I think for some brands that will go that route. And Others will go the route of the new trek with multiple roles engineered into one platform. I think most the premium brands will continue to offer specifically engineered bike for most travel ranges. Sometimes even multiple bikes with diffirent tasks or wheel sizes in those travel ranges. However the product cycle for those bikes (especially the niche ones) will be much longer. Like specialized with the enduro. We may see 2-3 stumpy cycles or variations while the enduro only is updated once a decade. Transition for another example...

12/31/2025 9:48am I think we will see more gearbox bikes in 2026 as well as a resurgence of smaller companies coming in. Maybe, just maybe a bit more US manufacturing also.

12/31/2025 9:45am We carry on to ride bikes for the reason we started as it’s fun Enduro dies at a local level it becomes like gran fondo- participation event but there’s less races Festival style events with bikes, some racing and partying get bigger More e-bikes Brands reduce making 160/170/180mm bikes (enduro) as e-bikes fill this gap 120/130 bikes more popular if you ride a non motorised bike Less dh riders able to get a ride and rightly so if they aren’t good enough Less Instagram “ambassadors” with industry cuts Riding bikes will still be fun

12/26/2025 2:39am don't know if zink's statement is 100% accurate, but YT's track record isn't making them look good. what total a*holes of a company! would love to hear/read a tell all segment of everyone who got screwed over by YT/markus in the last 10 years. could be a whole book/documentary with zink, AG, people from the US-operation for YT and the frame manufacturer.

12/23/2025 9:37pm Super good question. The honest answer is: it depends, but we can frame it pretty cleanly. Private equity is generally not structured to “swing and miss” the way venture is. In a traditional buyout strategy, you’re underwriting to avoid permanent capital loss, even if you’re using leverage. That said, bankruptcies do happen. Depending on the dataset, the strategy (mega buyout vs middle market vs distressed), the industry mix, and the time period you measure, you’ll see something like mid single digits up to the teens as a reasonable range for bankruptcy outcomes across portfolios. The more “risk on” the underwriting...

12/21/2025 11:28am That's nice to hear @dantecusolito ! It's nice to hear that this kind of engagement can also have an impact on customers. But pretty pictures and videos certainly are the better sales drivers. Great to hear you were able to pick up a second hand post. I am sure it will serve you well! @Mitch7MTB Thank you for the kind words. We are always happy to give smaller, genuine brands the same attention as the bigger ones. If we can help them we try to make it happen. I also hear what you are saying about how hard it sometimes...

12/19/2025 5:24am When I refer to "manpower" I am talking about our in-house capacity. We manufacture/assemble our posts in Taiwan in our own facilities with our own team of now 13 people. That means every single post is assembled by ourselves, not, as it is otherwise often the case, by a "partner"/factory/assembler who is contracted to do all the sourcing, manufacturing, assembly to get the product ready in the box to sell. We draw every single part, source the suppliers, have them made, get them to us and then put everything together in our own facilities with our own machines. No post...

12/18/2025 1:18pm Those are some rad insights Sacki! Question: we always heard from the bike manufacturers that they couldn't ship the bikes out because parts were missing/late etc. Do you think there WAS a point where those crazy numbers of posts could have been sold by you IF you had made them? Or those were in fact purely fictitious numbers that never materialized at all?

12/18/2025 1:17pm It's a very interesting and impressive interview. Thank you, Sam, for taking the time and going so much into detail and also Jeff, of course for trying and then making this happen! It was interesting to hear how YT experienced the turbulent times during covid. For us, I can say, that we already saw OE orders being postponed and cancelled already around Q2 2022. But the more important thing happened to me in April 2021. There was one particular OE customer who used to need around 1,500 post per year from us. End of 2019 (pre-Covid) we received a projected...

12/18/2025 1:16pm Jeff, Well done on the podcast... I do appreciate the candid nature Sam brought to this interview. Even though a NDA put some limits on what could be said, he did own up to decisions that many of us here viewed as bad and explained the reasons as to why. As for you wanting to be a better podcaster, I'd say think about it like jumping a bike.. Some times the best answer is to do less. Your questions were good, you didn't talk over Sam a whole bunch, and kept a good flow going. Maybe you fumbled a word...
