5/9/2026 11:16pm @amaranth beat me to it. To each their own but I don't consider anything you mentioned to constitute a "technological moat". Another way to say this is I don't see any intellectual property that is differentiated enough in the market to the point a consumer is willing to pay a premium for it, nor do I see any of those features defensible (they will be copied). I pay attention to bike-nerd culture pretty closely and I'm yet to see one post saying "Orbea's eeb UI is so much better, I just had to have it". Just like every other bigger...

5/5/2026 11:49am Thank you all for the interest in our bikes and in our distribution / sales model. To give you a bit of context, we’re currently a team of 9 people at RAAW, based in Germany, and we ship worldwide directly from here. The US has actually grown into our biggest market after Germany, which is pretty wild considering that every RAAW in the US has been shipped individually from Germany. Our goal is, of course, to make the ordering process and ownership experience as easy as possible. Having stock in the US would be ideal, but that comes with a...

5/1/2026 11:22am Exactly... So, I would guess that the costs of setting up something here doesn't justify the benefits to the company.. Yes, I wouldn't mind a Madonna and a Yella if a DH bike was in the cards for me...

4/23/2026 2:02pm It the Bosch vs Avinox regulatory/sustainability approach simply a matter of regional company culture? Bosch being German is used to dealing with the EU environmental and product regulation. I imagine they have some consideration for sustainability of the product category and the perception of the regulatory bodies. Avinox/DGI is Chinese and operating in their "regulatory" environment. The Chinese tech approach seems push out product with the highest possible specs with the lowest cost, leveraging the huge production capabilities and leaving the consumer to figure out if it's legal, sustainable or ethical in their region. If the product saturates the market...

4/20/2026 2:58am I think post-covid the endemic companies need to be looking over their shoulder. My understanding is that as there was overstock in shops and distributers factories in Asia have been looking to do more of the sales in NA and Europe themselves. DJI launched Avinox and Amflow and are doing numbers. If they can hit the price point due to economies of scale and are not worried about 1 or 2 poor quarters they will continue to be relevant. On the point of Amflow being Fox's number one customer, this would not shock me if we are talking specifically in...

4/20/2026 2:57am That the $5k Amflow might just nuke the e-bike market, I imagine I will be seeing those bikes everywhere by the end of this year. Crazy what state sponsored capitalism can produce. Private industry is only good if you're a dork trying to become a billionaire, if you want to do real numbers you need that central bank money.

4/15/2026 2:30am Bring back the OG Rock Razor Super Gravity but in a true 2.4 or 2.5. Or a Slaughter in Grid Gravity. I miss that era of tough, fast rear Gravity tyres!

4/15/2026 2:28am I think semi slicks like minion ss and specialized slaughter are totally underrated. I was turned into these by ridemonkey DH forum guys and the combo of a fast rolling tread with big cornering lugs is addicting. way more grip than the appearance of the tire would suggest, but maybe that’s why it’s been so slow to catch on? People just assume it won’t grip?

4/15/2026 2:27am Your wishes will be addressed soon. But also worth noting that enduro/gravity casing tires can only go so fast. A tires casing is one of the biggest contributor to rolling speed. See my previous comment about this exact topic.

4/15/2026 2:26am Likely no company is reading this, but I will give my wishes. Make enduro Casing fast trail rear tire. I run Xynotol enduro soft in the rear and I like it but sometimes wish wonder what a faster tire would change my 5010. I've tried a WTB Trail boss light fast (why are tough now 1500g!?) and liked it (but flatted it), and I would love to try a Forekaster, but I haven't had great luck with Exo+ in the rear but have had luck with Conti Enduro. I am curious to try a faster Magnotol or Forekaster, but no...

4/12/2026 9:20am Quick update for clarification. It does appear that DJI has officially spun off Avinox and Amflow as wholly owned subsidiaries. They are working hard to distance both brands from DJI while still owning them, which in my opinion is primarily for tariff reasons. I don't read Mandarin so I had to use AI to help with the research, but here's what the Chinese corporate registry data shows: DJI senior management member Song Jianyu is the legal representative of the Amflow entity, which is held by a Hong Kong shell company called Worang Technology. If you guys want, I'll spend the...

4/11/2026 11:25am I know this is a controversial take, but I don't think the power numbers really matter with respect to trail access. What matters is how we limit speed and whether that limit is consistently hacked or not. Even that is something I'm less and less convinced has a huge real-world impact. What had a big impact was letting e-bikes on trails that were otherwise closed to motorized access (dirt bikes) in the first place. By allowing that, everything changed. I frankly don't care if you can put 150Nm to the rear wheel or 75Nm. Both change the equation relatively equal...

4/11/2026 11:24am I just really hope they’re not sacrificing the whole industry for a few good quarters because that’s kinda what it feels like with them flirting with higher and higher power numbers.
