Regarding tight liaison times: I think people are lacking context following other racing disciplines, especially road racing. In road racing, what determines the cream of the crop who race the Tour de France (World Tour) vs others (Pro Tour) is endurance and durability. The World Tour racers can hold 85-90% of their FTP for 6+ hours and end a race sprinting near their max, whereas Pro Tour racers see a much higher rate of degradation in power output over the same length of time. Similarly, the EDR racers who had issues making the Finale times are simply not as fit...

This probably deserves its own thread (Spomer, feel free to delete this and make one with this post), but enduro style racing has two different points of demand, racers and spectators. Sometimes these two "customers" or "users" will want the same thing, sometimes they will not, but ultimately I'd argue they are two very different points of consumption. This thread is muddling the two together, which makes it hard to debate. Making enduro interesting to me as a racer means I'm going to write a lot about what I want to see at the regional/national level. I'm not racing EDR/EWS...

I raced in the Open category this weekend and managed to reach every stage on time, with a few minutes to spare. The racers both in front of me and behind me also made it to the transfers on time. Although our transfer times were slightly longer than the elite's (by about 5 to 10 minutes), and we raced earlier in the day when the heat was more bearable, this shouldn't create a significant difference between us amateurs and the elites. I also competed in Finale in 2017, which was much more challenging with its two days of racing and...

Here is Jesse's Strava - https://www.strava.com/activities/11390721124 - where is he "red lining" to the top of a hill? He's comfortably aerobic the whole time. I'm sure it was hard, but he's an athlete, it seems he handled it just fine. I suppose I just don't understand how putting more limitations on transfers has any impact on your (or anyone's) fandom. As I noted above, there are plenty of issues with enduro as a sport for fans, but making the race day go a bit swifter isn't one of them. BTW - I see 13 DNFs and 5 penalties in the...

Just shows how much of a beast Rude is. The guy does not have the physique of an XC racer by any means, and he absolutely crushed it. Enduro as a race format isn't going anywhere, lots of really good races and series in the US. But the EDR/EWS whatever you want to call it is on life support.

Day late, dollar short, but first post-race B Practice Podcast of the year is live! As always, Dak had some rad insight into his race run, where he thought others were faster, why he likes his bars so high, and electronic suspension doohickeys. He's also pissed he was only $95k for fantasy last weekend, but I'm sure his value will go up next weekend

Fort Bill attendance for finals looked way down as compared to in the past. Was I imagining that? WynTV interviews with riders afterwards had great insights. Captain No Goggles was b/c the marshalls at the gate called him into the start gate without warning. He said they told him "10 seconds" and he just rolled straight through the gate. You could see him still rolling into the start house on the live stream. BK said it best...Semi's sucked and there were a ton of riders not around for the big show on Sunday making it less exciting. Get rid of...

I thought the coverage on Max was pretty good (I'm located in the US). Definitely seeing more of the track too compared to redbull days. Gwin commentary is nice too, though Rob is still very dearly missed. Currently only paying the $10 per month for Max, not gonna be thrilled when I have to pay another 16 on top of...

Man...in the late 90's, early 2000's when a pro contract had the rumour of 7 figure money b/c of Peaty, Palmer & Schley...SO, SO many dudes had the not so bright idea of having doctors rig a cast that had a hole to slide onto the bars to salvage points. More than one of my buddies duct taped their fokking hand to the bar at various times. Heck, I remember Steve...something from Cali came drove his old T100 all the way up to Mt. Snow, yanked a gap over a dip above the waterfall section, shoulder comes out of socket...

I've had almost all of them with ride time and the Trickstuff has a lot of similarities with Hope, the quality is just slightly more refined and better, but not by much. They also ditch DOT, which I know some people care more about than others, although it's a big issue in the US where Bionol is nearly impossible to find. I tripped over my bottle and nearly lost half of it, which made for a rough moment and a few bad words. I also feel at the price point they should include bleed tools, Intend does and IMO there...

https://enduro-mtb.com/en/best-mtb-disc-brake-can-buy/ interesting brake test, still cannot understand how the "battle" for the best brake was between the Dominions and the mavens and not between trickstuffs and hopes, hopes do everything better than the mavens, stop you quicker, better lever feel, easier to bleed, cheaper to buy, way better looking, even lighter, don't really know, regardless, interesting test backed up by dyno data

I'm not really sure what SRAM is going to do about the massage situation with the Mavens. They are eventually going to start trickling down into OEM builds and assemblers aren't going to do that procedure, it's something that should've been done at the factory, but my concern is that whatever it is doing needs to be done when the brakes sit idle for a while. Time will tell. I had no issues bleeding the Maximas. I know a lot of people reported problems, but they were fine the first time through for me. I usually double check the bleed...

Running Intends too, love them so much that I have them on both bikes now. Ran Hayes before the Intends, never had any issues with those either, until my wife demanded I hand over mine so she doesn't need to run the Codes anymore. Would like to add if something is easier to do, then it's probably also easier to...

I ran these before moving to Intends. I've also tried a bunch of other brakes. Most of the mtbr discussion is people dogpiling SRAM due to that youtube review by Dale Stone. I tried to offer some useful commentary there but eventually got tired of arguing with people who would never try them and just wanted to shit on SRAM (which I can relate to given my CS experiences with them). I'm not really sure where Enduro MTB got the power numbers from, I can say in terms of feel at least, the Mavens seem to have more power earlier...

Excited for the new 240 DEG hubs from DT swiss. They seem to be bomb proof, decently lightweight, pretty good engagement, and very serviceable by a gorilla like me. They do seem to cost quite a bit though - I wonder if anyone can compare them to the CK hubs that use a similar mechanism and engagement, while also being...

Big fan of EXT, had great experience with their customer service, they really go above and beyond. Heard nothing but good things about Vorsprung, hope they compete in the more "boutique" section of the market to provide better products and service. Didn't have the best experience with Push but hope they improve in that regard.
