5/18/2026 7:43pm I’ve never ever heard 5010 hype like the last 2 days of this thread. It actually makes me want to try one bad. I ride a previous gen sight 27.5. Bought it when the 27/29 wars were happening, and before mullet, and I ended up on the wrong side of history lol. I really wish I folded to the hype and bought a 29” sight. I’ve recently been riding several (slightly) shorter travel 29 bikes and always feel so so much easier on the climbs. Do mid travel mullets climb like a 27 or a 29? Or somewhere in the...

5/14/2026 3:23pm Off topic but everyone in BJJ is on juice, it’s like saying Ronnie Coleman isn’t the greatest bodybuilder cuz of PEDs. You have to assume a lot of mtb racers are on PEDs, there’s no way the testing is any good. They can’t even figure out how to route a b line.

5/14/2026 10:29am Do they envision the new system having any applicability to non-DH bikes? Otherwise, it seems like it would be a hell of a R&D investment for what must be a limited market segment (i.e. uber-expensive DH bikes). *Not that there would be anything wrong with that. A company pouring money into hole with the aim of making something cool rather...

5/14/2026 10:01am You can get to simmilar riding position with a fairly normal bike too. At least if you have moderately long chainstays. It is basically what Goldstone is doing. What reverse stem allows you to is running a looong wheelbase, which at least for DH is probably quite benefical, but you need a bike build for it. As someone who likes to ride very upright, but hates long bikes basically I just picked the bike with the shortest reach I feel comfortable running and longest chainstays I could get and it works fairly well. With short reach you only kinda run...

5/13/2026 10:15am One thing missing here is the fact that with the proliferation of composite know how, there are more people around able to safely repair a wider range of issues. Rather than pretending we are recycling carbon bikes I’d love to see more frames designed in ways that facilitate repair. Repair is verifiable in a way that recycling is not, it is cost effective for everyone concerned, and it is as close as you’ll get to good for the environment. It probably flows on to other design decisions to ensure repair is viable (like bearing placement, etc etc), but designing bikes...

5/8/2026 9:23am What if it was commissioned at a price point that became entirely unviable in the USA due to tariffs and got remarketed as China only?

5/8/2026 9:20am I don’t have the dimensions for both the mullet and 29 Sight set ups so can’t comment with 100% certainty. That said, typically mullet links on Horst bikes makes them less progressive. The lower shock mount position can be used to control progression. I would assume the mullet rocker link makes it less progressive and the lower shock mount is then used to offset that so that the mullet set up and 29 set ups have similar leverage curves. If that is all true, it would mean running the 29 link with the 27.5 lower shock mounts would indeed make...

5/5/2026 11:47am I assumed that that must have been a typo, but there's a guy who appears to be from the company in the comments on PB who is stating as much. Interesting is right! It would be really cool to see an axle path graph or, even better, a slow-mo clip of it cycling through its travel.

5/4/2026 1:49pm There may or may not be a new bike in development. I can neither confirm nor deny. But if you're in the SoCal area there's always a chance you'll see us on the trails riding or testing something we're working on or playing with. Development never stops with us!

5/4/2026 10:28am I would love a meat-bike version with these exact specs. Also, the new design language that's been carried over from the Spider continues to be beautiful. If you imagine that thing without a motor or battery and an appropriately-sized downtube and BB as a result, that's a lovely looking bike.

5/4/2026 10:19am Is it safe to extrapolate that this is largely what the next Primer will look like? These specs look ideal to me, and I love that it uses a 210x55 shock.

4/25/2026 10:56am Those drop stems seem awkward. Shouldn’t larger wheels and higher axles predicate longer frames and higher bottom brackets? One manufacturer recently started raising BB for longer/larger frame sizes. What is the ideal BB drop and height for 32” wheel bike frames?

4/21/2026 1:42pm I think this is as close to a „for racing purposes only“ bike we’ll get from specialized. Who is the realistic target group for this? A few age groupers, the occasional dentist and maybe some kids sponsored by their rich parents. The ones who want it will buy it anyways, other than that I see it as an engineering exercise and podium representation at the World Cup for spesh. Low production numbers, complex molds and layup, high structural requirements and engineering costs, it was never gonna be price competitive and i don’t think specialized will care about the hardtail dad...
