Racers are only hurting themselves, and keeping their values lowered by keeping it in the secret. This is why the companies will even have it in the contract that they can not discuss it. This is just as much a problem in the buisness world as it is in the racing world. There is no reason to keep salaries quite, except to help the companies.

I see where you were coming from, for sure. A direct comparison to XX1 had to be made, as it is most direct. That said, my bike nerdery lens, which is a bit wider in this case, was hoping you'd pull back and look at things from a "what is this really doing for me" angle. That isn't to say you made an error, just we differ in our approach from a review standpoint, which is (obviously) fine. Also, I am a racer, I also run GX (on one bike anyway - which I do race). jeff.brines - I made a few references to "apples to apples" and what I meant there was XTR compared to XX1. I tried to write review assuming most folks to be looking at most of my comments from that point of view. My hope is that people looking to spend money on XTR/XX1/other would read the review and make a more educated decision between the two. I’m too lazy to go looking at numbers right now. But seeing as xt and slx are both in stock and ready to order. I’d prefer to see actual comparisons. XTR vs XX1 XT vs GX SLX vs NX The last one seems a bit pointless as NX is one of the most junk drivetrains ever made, IMHO...

Fair point, a lot of my sentiment is based around the fact my Eagle stuff has been damn near invisible (I don't think about it - it just plain works) to me. That said, it does seem picky with respect to b-tension, and of course if something gets "beat up" all bets are off to whether or not you can keep it running smoothly. I'm not sure I'd want to vouch for a beat up anything in the bike world! These types of debates quickly devolve into Chevy vs Ford which was never my intent. My point was to say...
