I rather like them. I have a Giro Switchblade that I wear as a 3/4 for when the weather is cool, but not cold. It works well for that and gives me a bit more protection. The newer helmets are built more with ventilation in mind though, so the temperature benefit/disadvantage is likely lessened.

Back in the 80's BMX we had similar style helmets like ECHO, JT, and Bell ProPlus models. I had and used them only for competition and when riding vert. I can see myself wearing one of these new models, but not for DH use. Half lids seem to rotate on the noggin too much in crashes, the 3/4 appears to eliminate some of that movement with more coverage on the head.

My fave is when Redbull puts the still image of the winners on their WC replay. I've intentionally not visited Vital or PB or got on instrgram simply to keep the winner of races I couldn't watch live a mystery then I pull up the Red Bull app and voila there was a still of the winners with a big Play button in the center (forgive me, can't remember who it was, probably Loic and Tracey so let's go with that from now on)... I knew at that moment they won but kept lying to myself as I watched each...

Loic at 3:45 was insane. Literally made everyone else look slow. Gotta give respect to Rheeder, super smooth and confident on the DH bike. Doesn't look at all out of place with elite WC racers.

I've been riding mountain bikes a long time. I had an original Marzocchi z1 when most other forks were using elastomers in the mid 90's. I've had at least 20 high end bikes between then and now, from DJ to trail to enduro to DH. Both Women and Mens finals were MENTAL!!! The way the results dictated the overall series winners was insane. That's how I liked to see it playout this season, coming down to the final run and not a runaway points lead with a race or two to go.

Wallace and Finn are both Canadian and "relatively" close with both being from BC, Fabien is part of the French Nationial team with Loic, and I mostly think the boys were just talking race game. I wouldn't look into that too much. But hot damn would a Loic/Troy race team just smoke the competition the way those two are on form.
