Have you ridden the Ripmo, Joel? How did you feel the Druid compared with its shorter travel but seemingly more downhill focused suspension?

9/28/2019 10:41am I rather like them. I have a Giro Switchblade that I wear as a 3/4 for when the weather is cool, but not cold. It works well for that and gives me a bit more protection. The newer helmets are built more with ventilation in mind though, so the temperature benefit/disadvantage is likely lessened.

I like the black lows. I've never loved Five Ten aesthetics and had some shoes from the Adidas mountain bike line in the past that I thought looked better. I also liked them more for general use off the bike, so if I was hiking/trail building as well as biking, I'd choose them. Their Stealth rubber wasn't as sticky as some of the Five Ten shoes Stealth though, but they did hold up multiple seasons. I tried the most recent Adidas model but found it a bit too snug in the forefoot for my increasingly wide forefoot. Ill be interested...

I have Giro's Switchblade and ride without the chin bar a lot. I ride either when it's cool as it's a bit warmer than my half helmet (not sure this one would be) or just when I'm going to be riding some tech, but for which putting on the full face seems like overkill. If I only had one, i'd probably have the Proframe, but if I had an infinite helmet budget, I'd like both.

I've ended up using my Switchblade a lot partially because it's warmer. I wear it as a 3/4 shell in Spring and Fall when my ears would start to get a bit chilly in my half shell. Because of that, I've found myself wearing it for a lot more than I expected when I bought it.

I do think that plus sized tires would smooth out the ride for your daughter, but I don't like putting weight that high, esp. weight that can shift itself.
