I've always thought of it as a modulation thing. With a larger rotor I find it harder to keep the rear wheel just below the point of breaking traction. Last year I was running a 200f/180r setup and never felt like the rear didn't have enough power and was very satisfied with being able to control the rear wheel locking up. My current rig has 200s front and rear (and the same brakeset) and I find myself skidding around unintentionally a lot more even after 4 months with the larger rotor.

Just a thought. What if it’s not Flax. What if it’s Hemp? Hemp is strong, light, cheap, renewable, and can be weaved into fabric. Or maybe I’ve lived in Colorado too long and have no idea what I’m talking about.

at the press launch today i was told that because DVO doesn't have any XC-specific products and had no plans to develop any, that was the main decision behind the switch. the DH/enduro crew was stoked on the DVO stuff and just learned about the switch a week or so ago.

Why is mountain biking so afraid of actually requiring endurance or even pedaling ( Lift assistance for 350ft vert)? Personally I relish having to factor my fitness for timed stages when I just climbed 1000ft.

Can't deny... A cockpit with fewer cables would be pretty sick

If I read that correctly you may be able to control the dropper via the shifter. That is something I would be willing to try. Depending on the position of the paddles, the sprint button may be viable.

A different (lesser) media source mentioned that SRAM will release pricing for individual components in about 4 weeks. This option is appealing -even as a shimano loyalist- if I'm not locked into the stupid $ that SRAM's asking for cassettes and chains. If they can offer the RD and shifter for under $750 I bet they'll sell boatloads as an aftermarket upgrade.

I love the idea of an instant wireless dropper, simply because it means one less cable. But $800!!??? Wow. As for the wireless drivetrain, it tries to solve a problem that doesn't exist. There is nothing wrong with cable shifting - its simple, easy to fix and easy to maintain.

I don't think we'll have to worry about seeing this on the trails any time soon. The way Harley's going, they may be out of business before this can even be offered to the masses. Their electric street bike is a whopping 29k. Firstly, their main customer base doesn't want an e motorcycle and secondly, guys like me who would consider buying one can't afford to spend 29k on a pleasure vehicle that costs almost as much as a brand new Tacoma. This dirt bike will probably be offered at the outlandish starting price of 14.9k. Only people riding that...

why would he know what he is talking about when cross branding? He didnt cross brand anything at alta. He worked at a motorcycle company that sold and marketed motorcycles with new motors. That isnt cross branding. And they didnt have much of a brand presence besides racing RBSR and Erzbeg anyways
