Please keep the single crown class!!!

It is not a merger with DH Rockies. Looking forward to the four races in four states this summer!

If Neer is gonna run MSC, hopefully J Work(Downhill Rockies) can focus on re-building gated racing out west… together?

With the cost of…. everything being so dang high, it’s time to bring back more DS, Dual and 4x…  More affordable bikes(heck you can use your NiCA rig) and the right bikes for all the muncipal flow spots that are popping up everywhere!

That would be more than amazing and miraculous. Will Purg actually be open this year? Or do they need another year?

Honestly, who knows at this point.

The new ski lift installation, which was the reason for the bike park being closed last summer, did not happen.

The timber harvest that was supposed to fund the lift installation, that closed the bike park last summer, did not happen

The permit for the lift installation, that was supposed to be paid for by the timber harvest, that closed the bike park last summer, was denied due to zoning issues.

And lastly; the lift that was already purchased and has sat on the ground for many months, which had it's permit denied, which was supposed to be installed with funds from a timber harvest that didn't happen, which closed the bike park last summer, WON'T EVEN WORK WHERE THEY WANT TO INSTALL IT, IT WILL LITERALLY DRAG ON THE GROUND.

Purg needs to hire some help in the upper management department ASAP. Probably not aided by the fact that the current base depth is 12" and it was raining on the mountain yesterday.

All the more reason to get a proper bike park going.

Apparently we will have Enduro World Championship in 2026 as well. Found a document on the Italian National Federation website which states that the race will take place in the weekend of 16-18 October in Finale Ligure

My silliest race run ever was the also my 1st 50+ race at that National. Missed my "seeding run" & had to start 1st in class.
Sky opened up just biblical as I got in the gate. Got to the 1st turn & it was glass from there down. Brick hard red clay lubed more than Bert Reynolds in the movie Striptease.
I've never hit a sapling harder in my life. Launched and landed in the tree canopy down the mountain & parachuted through them to earth.

😁

On my way to re-up with USAC now.

Roger Viera and Mille Johnset going to Hardline. Not sure if they are additions or replacements for somebody else.

WHOOP UCI MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD SERIES TO RETURN TO MORILLON AND LES GETS FOR ROUNDS IN HAUTE-SAVOIE, FRANCE

UCI Enduro World Cup action returns to Morillon while the UCI Cross-country and Downhill World Cups head to Les Gets as part of an August double-header

image 562.png?VersionId=u4gz5955mrxEPfA7MFxPQ

22 January 2026 – Today, Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) Sports, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), and the French region of Haute-Savoie are pleased to confirm the two venues that will host the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series rounds from August 14 to 23.

The first weekend of action in Haute-Savoie will see the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series return to Morillon on August 14-16 after the venue’s successful debut in 2025. The Grand Massif commune hosted the UCI Enduro World Cup season finale last year and will conclude the six-round series once more, with overall placings on the line at the Enduro Bike Park.

Just five days after the dust has settled in Morillon, it will be the turn of Les Gets, which is hosting the final European rounds of the UCI Cross-country Olympic, Cross-country Short Track and Downhill World Cups between August 21-23.

A staple of the UCI World Cup circuit since the 90s, when Nicolas Vouilloz, Steve Peat and Anne-Caroline Chausson dominated the Downhill course, Les Gets has been an annual fixture for the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series’ Endurance and Gravity athletes since 2019. Last year, Luca Martin (Cannondale Factory Racing) and Max Alran (Commencal/Muc-Off by Riding Addiction) gave the partisan French crowd something to cheer about in both formats, and the passionate local fan base will be hoping for more red, white and blue victories in 2026.

1 42 3

The two back-to-back weekends of off-road riding will see the world of mountain bike converge on Haute-Savoie, with live music, entertainment, an expo, and fan activations at the event villages throughout. Last year’s event attracted more than 100,000 fans across the four formats, and big crowds are expected once again.

Located in the heart of the French Alps and serving as a gateway between France, Switzerland and Italy, the Haute-Savoie region is a major partner for these two rounds of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series. Deeply committed to mountain bike and to sport more broadly, Haute-Savoie has consistently championed sport as a driver of regional vitality and as a way to showcase its remarkable natural assets on the global stage.

The 2026 WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series double-header in Haute-Savoie also provides a great preview of what the region has in store for when it hosts the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships. First held in Glasgow in 2023, the event brings together multiple UCI World Championships across cycling’s different disciplines in a two-week celebration of bike-based brilliance.

I'm looking to go an watch the enduro world cup in Bellwald and the DH world cup in Lenzerheide. I live in Zurich so planning on getting the train down for the day. I was wondering is the Enduro worth watching in person? Is this best with a bike so I can cycle between stages? With the DH if i was just there for the day and wanted to see the most riding, is a practice day better than race day?

You should definitely go for DH practices, because then you’ll be able to see the practices and race day. Because nobody on the planet (especially one with a username on vital mtb forums) would be able to watch practice and leave. You will stay. You will quit your job and leave your family if need be, but you will watch finals.

Posted this in the Warner Bros Disco thread but thought it should be here as well:

MONSTER ENERGY ANNOUNCED AS MAIN PARTNER OF WHOOP UCI MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD SERIES

The brand with the iconic green claw is confirmed as the Official Energy Drink partner.

27 January 2026 – Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports and Monster Energy are proud to announce a new long-term partnership for the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series.

Monster Energy becomes a main partner of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series, taking on the role of Official Energy Drink partner. As part of the agreement, the global energy drink giant will join WBD Sports onsite at all 14 events, bringing fresh energy and engagement to fan activations, enhancing the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series experience both trackside and on broadcast.

The partnership builds on Monster Energy’s longstanding commitment to mountain bike, having supported some of the sport’s most iconic athletes since the brand’s inception, including Sam Hill, Steve Peat and Brendan Fairclough. During the 2025 season, several UCI Downhill World Cup podium finishers were Monster Energy athletes, including Amaury Pierron, Marine Cabirou, Loris Vergier, Luca Shaw, Thibaut Dapréla and Troy Brosnan. This agreement will further amplify Monster Energy’s presence at mountain bike events and support WBD Sports’ mission to grow the sport globally.

Beyond the mountain bike, Monster Energy has firmly established itself within the wider cycling world, driven by its investment in athlete development programs, including Freestyle BMX.

Chris Ball, Vice President of Cycling Events at WBD Sports, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Monster Energy as a main partner for the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series. Securing a brand of Monster Energy’s reputation is a testament to the passion and dedication our teams have demonstrated since assuming the organisational and promotional aspects of the series. The team at Monster Energy has exciting plans for the forthcoming season and beyond, and we look forward to working closely with them to bring this new partnership to life.

Daniel McHugh, Chief Marketing Officer at Monster Energy, said: “Mountain bike is one of the most progressive and exciting disciplines in global sport, and the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series represents the very pinnacle of competition. Monster Energy has a long history of supporting athletes and events that push limits and inspire fans, and we’re proud to partner with Warner Bros. Discovery Sports to elevate the experience for riders and audiences worldwide. We’re excited to bring our energy, creativity, and passion for the sport to every stop on the series.”

Cody Dresser, Vice President of Action Sports at Monster Energy, said: “Mountain bike has always been part of Monster Energy’s DNA. The riders, the culture, and the fans share the same spirit that drives everything we do, pushing limits, taking risks, and elevating what’s possible. Partnering with the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series gives us an incredible platform to support the sport at every level. Fans can expect an elevated presence from Monster Energy throughout the 2026 season, with dynamic on-site activations that celebrate the athletes and bring the passion of the sport directly to fans around the world.”

In 2025, WBD Sports drove the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series to new records across broadcast, digital and social platforms, and on-site fan attendance. Building on these strong foundations, the 2026 WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series aims to deliver another record-breaking season across all four formats.

The 2026 season kicks off on May 1 with the Race of South Korea – marking the return of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup to the Asian continent for the first time in 25 years.

Sounds like people would prefer read live timing updates ala EWS instead of sponsors bringing a live broadcast

I’d prefer a free broadcast from the other energy drink company than monster paying eso/wbd to  add nothing to the table.

High speed, pumpy track with gnar up top seems right up his alley and he could be a contender for the win.

Let's be honest here. Barring any accidents, the podium is going to be a variation of Jackson, Ronan and Asa.

Gilchrist at one of the Crankworks stops last year snuck his front wheel around the start wand so his leg was what first hit it, meaning his time started when he was already halfway down the ramp. It's unclear if it actually made a difference because in some of those races, the wand is the backup, and the actual timing is done by a beam break on the start ramp.

At a race (I think it was a Crankworks event) his tire went around the timer starting wand and he didn't end up hitting the timer until his foot made contact with it. It caused a kerfuffle.

Did he intentionally steer around it? Is the wand ceremonial (and they actually rely on timing lasers/some other system) or does it start the timer? Did Thomas Slavik intentionally steer around it when it happened at a Cerro Abajo event?

People were pretty quick to label him a cheater and he seemed to drop off the radar a bit afterwards.

Gilly's fast and this could be a stepping stone for him. I've been enjoying his Youtube channel this offseason and it seems like he's trying to dedicate more time and energy into moving his career forward. He's had a few rides with Luke Meier-Smith so it's been interesting to see those guys doing what they do in the offseason.

Most of all, I hope noting happens that could be seen as controversial in the starting gates this year so all the starting gate drama we had last year (Slavik's gate-around, Gilchrist's gate-around, Henri Kiefer's umbrella-chain-adjustment-in-the-gate, and someone else who slid out of the gate after hitting the starting post...I can't remember their name) can just go away. There's SO MUCH that's interesting about racing and the conversation being centered around the starting hut stuff was...a lot.
