random: i spotted what i'm pretty sure was another one of these on the shore yesterday. (same profile, cover, swingarm config, etc). his buddy was on what looked like a proto mule (raw alu) single crown thing. no indication of company affiliation on bikes nor clothing. entirely non-useful info, sorry.

Also saw it on the back of a car shuttling past me as I was pedaling up the road so no time to grab a sneaky pic but thought it might have been this bike! Looked much like it!
at the end of the year, we're going to lock this thread.
while it's been amazing (thank you all!) and fun that we hit 1000 pages and over 7.5m views, this thread is a logistical and technical resource hog. it's also not easy to access older information. while there are a lot of upsides to the ease and convenience of posting to this thread, the downsides are outweighing the ups with it being so massive.
please start a NEW thread to the hub for anything that has potential for legitimate discussion. good posts will be homepaged and the discussions will be a lot more targeted. they'll also be shareable and easier to find in the future.
we've discussed this internally for a few months now and we feel this is the best long-term decision, even if it means some habits have to be adjusted. i await your thumbs downs 🤐 and again, thanks to everyone for making this such fun place to ultimately talk about chainstay lengths 🤣

Ill be the first thumbs down since you said you're waiting for them lol
At the same time it will make alot of stuff easier to find as well but this thread will be missed. As long as you dont end entire forum like the surfer forum just did it isnt too bad of a change.

I wouldn't be mad if @sspomer didn't let this thread get to 1000 pages and admin did some house keeping, lets be honest if it happened this forum would be on about 300 pages of actual meaningful info and spy shots.
🤭
All those down votes but still the people that matter listened and knew what I was getting at
lol, this is nothing like surfer forums. our forum and you all in here are a massive strength of what we do. it's not a financial thing, it's a site performance thing. our mx site has an INSANE amount of forum traffic, but that forum runs like a "normal" forum with new posts for individual topics, not a couple mega threads. that setup is a more effective way to have discussion, and it's how every other forum works.
i also personally appreciate the ease of following a single thread, especially w/ notifications, and there's no reason bigger single threads can't continue (as you've shown, v2 is already started). they prob won't be stickied, however and content from them won't be homepaged. just bookmark the hub and you'll be see what's new and of interest to you. topics that are meaningful will grow and duds will fade away.
(and as of now, up vs downvotes are at 12 each on my post about locking this)
Are the slow loading times and incomplete loads of some threads a consequence of these massive thread performance issues or could the problem be on my side?
When I started this thread years ago (under an old username that I got locked out of... Still bummed about that @sspomer ) I never would have imagined to surpass 100 pages, let alone a thousand! Since I started the thread as a senior in high school, I have gone from a shop rat with too much free time to an industry employee who is bound by NDA's. I've had to keep my mouth and keyboard quiet on a ton of subjects, some of which have been pretty accurate to the ideas tossed around! I hope someday bike companies will look to this thread as a resource for what the riders are wanting.... oh wait, maybe we already do😉
I'm ecstatic to see what version 2 holds for this thread as we all know V2 is bound to be 0.00001% better in every aspect!
RIP MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation 2/11/2020-1/1/2026

not so sure of how many look and listen. I sure hope more do!.. but certainly a lot look and get worried! haha as soooooo many things get deleted for being shown/discovered too soon ( I know it is for good reason, I am aware sspomer haha)
that being said, I will continue to do my part in sharing ridiculous screenshots and expose and discover what I can!

it would be REALLY GREAT then, if you would have better moderation tools and better quote tools for us? for example, other forums, with proper forum software, can split whole discussions from existing threads and move them over to another thread to continue there. here, you just delete it and alle the info is lost. also it would be really great for readability if we could quote certain parts of a post, and not only the whole post.
So after six years of Sspomer and other users redirecting non-tech rumour talk to individual threads (brake discussion, chain stay circlejerk, etc), Sspomer has now redirect ALL talk to individual threads. Damn.
Also the blue crowns are sexy!

There was more than enough room for a spy camera in that beard. Food for thought.

Here's a new one

Well to credit you all, this thread was Pinkbikes greatest research resource lol
I’m crying in the club rn. This thread has so much interesting stuff to look back on. I vote we just start v2
I just fell to my knees in my LBS
Every great messageboard’s downfall began like this.
RIP vital forums…
That's one way to get a discount bro....slurp
Agreed. Surfer forum gone cause of the cost of running it and storage. That had been around for 21 years and deleted to save some money
🤭

This party sucks.
If I understand correctly the expectation now is to have each interesting tidbit in a separate thread?

Or multiquote
I will be much more productive without this thread.
understand the desicion and happily adapt to the new way! as a constant reader and non-participant, i don't see a disadvantage with the "new format"
long live vital tech!
