Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Some trivia, FWIW:
In Men's Elite, Bruni is the only rider to get points in Q1 in every World Cup race so far. (Goldstone got 0 points twice.)
In Women's Elite, 4 riders have earned Q1 points in every race: Höll, Hemstreet, Seagrave, Hoffmann.
Goldstone (twice) and Bruni (once) are the only Elite riders - male or female - to finish 1st in Q1 and go on to win in the finals this year.
Really we are talking about the old cunts comment?
A tale as old as time I fear...eth
Only about a month until the final DH race of the season. Sandwiched into the North American part of the schedule is the US Open DH.
The overall points champions in UCI Men's and Women's Elite WC will each receive €10,000.
The winners at the US Open will get $15,000.
Crankworx just released the dates for the NZ stops with more dates and locations to come.
Anybody got a pic or notes on Dylan Maples "left hand" shifter from Worlds that Needles mentioned on the pod? And who even would make one ?
There was a mention of it being 3 gears so I was assuming it was just a normal triple chainring shifter.
Sure looks like a front shifter. Wonder if they swapped or modified internals in it.
hahahaha look at that chonker!!! old sram X5 front shifter seeing daylight from the bottom of the spare parts box!
someone out there still gonna say this is better than wireless electronics though where are you cmon
Man, SRAM couldn't hook a brother up with some pre-production AXS DH?
Camouflaged wireless?
Wired lock out in shifter form?
Maybe hurt his right thumb and this is the solution for shifting?
^^ he had thumb surgery a month or so ago
Didn’t he say in an interview his hand/thumb was heavily taped, but he didn’t go as far as loris by taping his hand to the bar.
He needs to man up and show some commitment. 🤣
Gwin is back at Whiteface so hopefully we get some updates soon.
@ron_goldstone, congratulations for raising an upstanding young man who is behaving in a manner that I find very impressive for someone his age and with the amount of attention and pressure he lives with. Jackson is a fantastic ambassador for the sport and true professional. He is also incredibly fast and his racecraft is phenomenal. His POV track previews are my favorite. The future of DH is bright with the latest generation to step onto the podium.
This season ain't over yet! So far it has been fantastic to see so many contenders for the win. The field is stacked and as or more competitive than ever.
Just a buncha butthurt Yankees in here. Finding it hard to celebrate a young Canuck on top of the game.
The irony is that if Jackson were American, those same butt hurt yanks would be being obnoxiously chanting ooo-rah USA! USA! with hand guns blasting in the air
Shout out to Tom Pidcock. He’s going to podium at the Vuelta baring anything crazy tomorrow. He’s been an absolute dog all race, never once conceding.
.
Finger. Blasters! #merica

The irony in Happy Gilmore being filmed just outside of Squamish
So does Ryan Pinkerton
Some of you didn’t obsess over the photos of Steve Jones testing bikes in Dirt mag, and it shows.
I had the honor of going on a couple different action shoots with Jonesy.
He is such an expert poseur, I still use many of his “go slower to look fast in still photos” tricks to this day.
Or - as I used to say in my racing days - you have to either be fast, or look fast, because nobody can tell on the fotos. I was however more the latter.
Lenzerheide coming up this week. Last European stop before they head to North America to close out the season. The top 2 spots in both the men's and women's Elite standings are pretty close, with less than 75 points separating 1st and 2nd in each.
Goldstone: He's having an epic year, obviously. He won Lenzerheide twice as a Junior and finished 6th in his only race there as an Elite.
Bruni: Has 1 win at this track (2018), with 5 podiums in 7 races there.
Höll: 2 wins as a Junior, but no wins as Elite in Lenzerheide. Best finish in Elite: 3rd. Only 1 podium in 3 Elite races there. [She's coming off her win at World Champs, but no idea if that means anything this week.]
Hemstreet: 1 Junior win at Lenzerheide. Finished 6th in her only race there as Elite. Having a tremendous season in WC, and her team manager has won 2X at Lenzerheide and might be able to give her some pointers.
I'm psyched for this race.
Because I dug around the UCI site before realizing Team Standings were on the World Series Site, here is a link to the team standings.

Pivot with just 8 points. Hard time seeing them continue as they are now.

The rankings that determine whether a team gets World Cup status is determined by UCI points not the World Cup series points. Those are in the UCI page
These?
Dammit, I looked there first but couldn't find them. The UCI site is horrible to navigate. Makes sense now that I think about it that it's more than just the World Series that counts.
Yes
