I am not sure about that. There isnt an option to purchase in that configuration but maybe there is an option for a longer air spring. There might be diminishing returns on this design as you go longer so maybe they limit to 170?
Why would anyone pick the Podium over the 9.1? Mass assembled in Asia with yet-to-be-seen quality control, crap damper, same old air spring, yet nearly as...

Weight looks to be identical as well. Why is it so heavy compared to pushs coil fork

do you need to send the fox one back to inspection right after purchase too?

Good point only if fox didnt have the the most failing shock with the x2. I would probably bet on Push's qc over fox's but I get it, its better to back the big corporate guys and shit on the little guys. AM I RITEEE!
I wonder if we’ll see an update to the Fox 38 that we’ve seen roll out with other Fox products like an update air shaft assembly.
I don't know if that glide-core(?) technology in the new air spring is as necessary in the 38 because the air spring is contained in its own sleeve not the sanction. I believe the sleeve was actually fox's original solution to the binding problem the new air spring looks to solve. It obviously just weighs a bit more.

I'd assume they'd do away with the sleeve and just go with the larger chamber combined with the glidecore.

That's where I was thinking it would go as well. But that will require a larger overall change as the equalizing dimples are contained within the sleeve not the stanchion like the 36. So full overhaul with a refined chassis too? Now is even more compilated by where fox sees the 38 going in their product line with the release of podium.

This. Without the inner tube on the 38, you get a lot of inherent progression from the lower, like on the Zeb. Then people like me add on a Noken to counter it. Looks like at least 1 WC rider was running something similar on their Boxxer last race too.
Fox is going to replace the separate internal air spring of the 38 and put a regular starter tube instead of the oval internal one it has now to save weight. New FOX 38SL launching 2026.
(This is basically the current Marzocchi Super Z + a grip X2 damper)

New 38's all have regular round steerer tubes, the oval one was phased out over a year ago.

We have been bracing for a carbon fiber ban for 10 years or so and I am confident that the big players have contingency plans in place, but I for one would be psyched on a flax bike!

Looks to be a new tire from Schwable? Looks like a HR3/Hillbilly/Argotal pattern. Maybe an updated Dirty Dan that’s been cut? I imagine it’s radial casing as well.

Yes, new tire. Was discussed a few weeks back when it broke cover on PB. Was used by a number of Schwalbe athletes in Val Di Sole.

I guess I should have said this distributor will only have this many but if your LBS has a direct account with fox they will probably have more.

Just as heavy as a dual crown though... 😬

My first thoughts are that the brake cable rattling around in them guides is going to be noisy and distracting

And the new Shimano mtb shoes are $200. $2,000 for a fork seems… reasonable? God I hate how that feels to say.

Well that shows how much I've paid attention.
And red brembos
While not a bike related, would be curious if this could eventually make its way into cycling https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a65173776/bmw-m-cars-carbon-fiber-alt…

All that is old is new again.
