Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Well I can only guess that they are hyping in an extra dramatic manner because they probably redesigned their stem and then realized it still looks like every other stem out there… just a guess.
How so? Won't those allow dirt and mud that would normally get stuck on the back of the fork arch to be able to push through rather than building up as much on your seals?
Looks like Fox is looking to move to 5 hour service intervals.
More details from OneUp:
At OneUp, we are committed to providing the best possible products and customer service for our riders. As part of this, we are issuing a product improvement and running change notice for our recently introduced Clip Pedals.
We have received information from our customers that in rare and specific conditions, certain riders may experience difficulty unclipping from the pedal. Whether a rider experiences this issue depends on a combination of several variables, including the type of shoe, the brand of cleat, cleat position and technique. Many riders will never experience this issue. Nevertheless, we have developed an improvement to eliminate the potential for this issue and ensure the best possible performance.
The improvement involves swapping out the rear binding plates on each side of the pedal body, just in front of the binding mechanism. The updated rear binding plates improve the smoothness of unclipping regardless of the shoe, the brand of cleat, cleat position, or technique. Installation of the new plates is a quick and easy process.
Accordingly, we are offering all customers the opportunity to receive a kit to install the improved binding plates or to return their Clip Pedals to OneUp for installation of the improved binding plates by OneUp, at their option.
We expect to have improvement kits available in approximately 6 – 8 weeks from the date of this notice.
They also have a step-by-step replacement instruction on their site HERE
I can see both. it also directly exposes your seals in the front.
not defending one way or another, but here's a bike in the middle of the muddy race from last year (loudenvielle). not much in the way of grime on the front of the fork.
Manitou owners don’t seem to have any issues with the front of their seals being exposed.
Maybe a hub that doesn't act like a brake?
Updated Hydra Hub. Thicker axle with new pawl and drive ring design. Adjustable noise levels. Less drag
Adjustable noise levels?!?
Agree, I don't think its an issue at all, I guess the only issue could be if a rock or something were to get wedged perfectly in a hole and scrape against the stanchions same thing could happen in a normal fork if something falls in behind the arch anways.
Code numbers and spec jargon in the product title. This is essentially the car audio industry for as long as I can remember.
I hope it’s compatible stuff with the older one
The old one only goes to ten.
I’ll take numbers and letters that correspond to anything over “Comp, Expert, Elite, and Pro”
What’s more better, Elite or Expert? 😂
I don't often run Manitou, but when I do, the seals and stanchions run noticeably cleaner than forks with the arch at the front. For both mud and dust.
Wouldn't surprise me if having more airflow around the seal and lower part of the exposed stanchion is actually a small improvement.
It's because most of the dirt is flung from behind by the spinning front tire and the reverse arch blocks the seals from that.
I was joking with that bit. The rest is accurate
That and I think not having dust mill around behind a forward arch. More of it just gets blown away by the airflow.
260 Nm??😯
Sounds like a spec of the rear hub in that context.
Yeah I think that’s the max torque the hub can withstand, the new motor looks like it’s up 5nm to 90 though.
There's gonna be a 70 anbd 90. 70 Similar to NX though if they're willing to put the transmission tagline on it I would hope it's higher quality than NX. 90 I'm betting will use GX Transmission cassette, and have a similar build quality overall to GX mechanical.
Maybe the cheap cassette is all steel, heavy & more robust. Perfect for e-bikes. (not that e-bikes need a 12 speed but that's another topic)
Then the bikes can go with the lighter X01 Transmission cassette (and chain) with the new cabled derailleur which will be lighter than any electronic derailleur, and depending on your tastes, shift better too.
It is a giant ripper. 💪
Has anyone seen anything of the Porsche E-Bikes yet? I got passed by an E-Bike the other day and at first thought that maybe the person had put a big Porsche sticker on their bike as a joke but at second glance it was actually graphics and the whole bike looked extremely polished, different to any other E-Bike I know of and was kitted out with all sorts of bling parts. Sadly they were too fast to interrogate them or snap a pic but it would seem that Porsche might be pretty close to unveiling something given how 'production quality' the whole bike looked. It had PORSCHE prominently written on the top tube of the bike, horizontal shock layout underneath the top tube (Porsche's current hybrid style E-Bikes have horizontal shocks) with either a Vorsprung or Push shock (reservoir and body was all silver/raw), the motor wasn't particularly quiet and sounded like most other E-Bikes, and the rider looked kitted out like someone that takes riding very seriously... So could have passed as a 'professional test rider' 🤣
Not the most exciting rumor without a pic or anything (and E-Bike related on top of that) but wondering if anyone has seen/heard something yet from Porsche?
Honestly, I'm not a fan of electronic groups (dead horse) so that's It's likely what I'd do.
Yah, because Porsche owns Fazua, they are releasing a line of e-bikes. Apparently full power.
Same.
Not even on my e-bike. If it was hardwired and had like a 10 speed wide ratio with an all steel cassette, I could live with it on an e-bike though.
Shimano has the right cassettes, but the hard wire part would probably only work with a Shimano motor if they release their new DI2 with the capability to work with Linkglide.
Yeah this did not seem like a Fazua bike, motor was bigger and bike looked like a full power bike so this must be from their own offering. Their website still has very little info besides saying they are working hard on their first bikes and there's a quick glimpse of a bike that might look like what I saw in their little teaser video...
