Hoof it got pulled right after I read it: to sum up what I remember: big difference with the SD is an early stroke oil bypass, after the first 30% of travel the main piston engages, plus the HBO seen on the SD. Retail price between $550 and $580 depending on stroke. Did I miss anything?

BTW, I guess that press release article means it's already in the hands of journalists. Must be close to a release. I don't think they will introduce a new Vivid coil, or at least it's not being tested at WCs.

It was mentioned in that article that this vivid is going to be air only 👍

Service intervals increased from 50h to 100h.

Looks like it's not just an air version of the coil shock given the new damper. Does the mean a coil vivid is also coming?

Its just basically a current coil super deluxe with an air can and some bullshit marketing.

I hope the new Vivid will be easier to change the volume tokens on than the old one (required special tools).  When I owned one, I knew I needed to add tokens, but never got around to doing it because of the hassle before I sold it.  In the photos,

What's the difference between the Vivid Ultimate & the Vivid Ultimate DH version? edited: looks like the DH version looses the climb switch.

I ordered an EXT Aria but frankly would rather have this shock on my Relay.

It will be a alloy Horst Link bike with vertikal shock mount. You already can see the blurred bike on the Youtube Channel from Mark Diekmann. On the top tube stays the name „Scrub“.

Spotted the reverse-arch Fox XC fork again in the Lifetime Grand Prix social media coverage of the Leadville 100. Resolution on the 2nd screenshot here is not great, but does it look to anyone else like the trail is visible through part of the arch? Maybe skeletonized to save even more weight? Might just be an optical illusion or weird reflection.

Yes indeed, that's how it looked to me too. It looks as if the arch is kind of folding backward, like some sort of generative design.

While Loic and Finn's bikes are indeed oddly glued to the ground, to say that Fox and RS can only offer clicky adjustments is just not true.  Fox offers multiple tune options on rear shocks to athletes and custom ones to the top athletes (most notably Greg). RS does the same.

My hunch is that Ohlins has taken more of a motocross approach to tuning the suspension, and have set aside resources to develop tunes/setups for Specialized’s riders and bikes. The impression I get for Fox and RS is that the sponsored teams are provided with a selection of their available stock tunes and maybe a weekend of testing with someone like Jordi. Let’s say the stock tunes don’t suite their needs, then of course they will try and come up with something better, especially for a team/rider on the pointy end of the results, however the resources to do it properly, probably are not there. I know a lot of speculation here but like I said just a hunch.

Yes but lots of “pro” who ride ohlins cannot get it set up right and complain constantly.  I wonder why this is

Bit late to the party on this one - the Vivid air is pretty sweet. It won't blow up on you after 2 weeks like the previous version Vivid, or the current gen Float X2 does. Smile

What happens when the lubricating oil passes from the damper side into the air spring? And do the wiper seals hold the pressures involved in air springs? And/or how much friction that creates on the wiper seals?

But yeah, not a bad way to increase the volume Smile

For someone making these kinds of claims this is not enough information on the topic. We need more. Tongue

Unfortunately that's about as much as I can say. You'll know more soon.
