SC isn't obligated to stop producing a legacy bike because you don't approve of it. Those dudes are pretty good at bikes. I think they are going to keep being them and your life wont be too adversely affected.

I am just trying to understand through discussing why they have decided on a 27.5 front wheel for the Nomad. I don't hate SC or the Nomad. Do tell that none of you guys look at the 650b front-wheel 2021 Nomad and thought...really...not even mullet..?(in 2021?) 😁
Just buy a frame and a 29er fork then. Nobody is stopping you. A 160 29er fork will be pretty similiar geo wise and a 170 will raise the front end a bit (not necessarily a bad thing if you aren’t climbing on trails much.)

Santa Cruz has never made bikes for straight up plow factor. The people who choose to ride them like them for a modern but conservative geo and for a suspension package that really responds to rider input. Hence why this nomad is just a touch longer slacker than the last one. Santa doesn’t need to reinvent their wheel.
Fully expect them to offer mullet options down the road. Probably on a bike designed 100 percent to be a mullet (fits their premium brand image) or maybe something similiar to what spec did with the spec evo. But I don’t expect them to redesign their 27.5 line to be mullets. I don’t think that 30 percent of their market entirely agrees with you.

As for me, if I'd be buying a Santa Cruz, it'd be the Hightower, most likely in XXL. Maybe in XL (have to try one to be sure), as it's plenty bike for my needs. Like I mentioned, I don't need a faster bike
And who cares if it's a mullet or not. If you want a mullet, like you were told, build one, get one made/ordered (there are companies making custom geometries) or buy another one off the shelf... The 27" bike is catering to a specific crowd that most likely doesn't have racing as the main priority (I know of someone riding a Nomad who said he has it for the more 'freeride' abilities that it provides).

Run a Nomad with a lowered Dorado or Öhlins 38 and a 29 front wheel. No one is saying you can’t and I’m sure it would shred.
EugenM your reasons are your own and are valid for you. I'm not shoving anything down your throat and so on. I'm merely trying to point out that you said everybody, without exception, wants a faster bike. Yet here we are, bickering about it (I don't think it's toxic or anything, but it is bickery a bit), where it has become that neither me (invalidating the 'everybody' part right there), neither you wants the fastest bike (which should be the point if you want a faster bike... just go for the fastest). And this last part, you not wanting the fastest one, is the sticking point.
And as you can see from my posts, I don't have a problem with that. It's valid to want a faster bike, but with certain limitations - say 27,5" wheels. But that again means you can say in a cover all manner 'everybody wants a faster bike'. That's what I'm droning on and on about.
And I kinda understand you about the band thing, my local group is riding Hightowers (and a few Megatowers) and I've had the option of joining, but I've put it off for another year (my Bird still works OK, so it's staying for a third season of abuse). I like being a bit out there, thinking that i'm some sort of a connoisseur, finding niche products.
Put me in the crowd that doesn't think anyone under about 5'7" should be on a 29er unless they are paid to race XC.
Can't even get the bar height correct. 30% sales of 27.5s is still higher than I would have thought but I suspect that will swing back a bit once the huge push for 29ers lightens up a bit.
Seems about right, though I've seen people at ~160 cm on full 29ers (S Sight) and had a comment that it's not a problem... But yeah, 27 for XS, S and M, mullets in M and L and full 29ers in L, XL and XXL.

If you look at the Intense Tazer, one of the models named in the lawsuit, it does not have a straight seat tube. In fact, I think all of the bikes named don't have straight seat tubes. Having an actual seat tube angle between 50 and 75 degrees and connecting to the downtube _could_ reasonably apply to to nearly all long travel full suspension bikes on the trails. There must be something more going on.
Hi, this is actually a Carbine. I have a Tracer and it does indeed have a straight seat tube that starts in front of the bb.
