Who? Never heard of Danny Norco. Jr rider? 😁
Did NOT have Cam to Yeti on my bingo card; stoked to see what she and Richie can do!
pretty sure jesse will be a one man show on canyon, i guess he‘s the only one with a contract for 2025 (signed 3 years AFAIK).
MS was already on intense in 2024, so that can‘t be true.
Sorry , my mistake. It was off Intense and on GT .
for real, after just 1 season?!
How can they be on GT, given what we know about GT these days???
Based on what has been said about GT, it seems the decision was, for all intents and purposes, quite abrupt. Could be MS was making a deal or had a deal done before GT got the rug pulled from underneath of them. On the other hand you'd think someone approving budgets would know of both the option of GT getting hibernated AND the MS deal being in the works and might give a heads up on not letting the deal being made? On the third hand said person privy to that information could not care one bit about the MS team and just let it happen (the infamous bean counters in suits and all).
All of this is pure speculation obviously.
That's what they said on the podcast. I could see Intense only wanting to support one team at the world cup and I'm guessing the cost of supporting MS would be higher than the IFR setup .
MS didn't have a great year last season and according to MUTN they had added a few riders for points but they might be in trouble if the GT deal falls through. Fingers crossed for them .
They did say where Monika Hrastnik was going but I can't remember , I'm getting old 😁
jakob jewett off pfr!
He announced this on his instagram almost a week ago…
Loris🏳️🌈 to commençal, good source 😉😉
Jewett bros to Giant with the Aussie bros? That would be a pretty rowdy team of rippers.
Haven't heard much word about how Giant is doing these days. They are so big and make product for so many other companies, maybe they are one of the few that is not tanking right now?
Giant seems to have their problems too.. They are probably able to weather the storm a bit better.. I've heard they owe Shimano some big money, not sure if the numbers are accurate. I've heard many big players owe Shimano some big money, I wonder how they are doing? I'd assume the picture is similar for Sram..
If the brands that Giant manufactures frames for are struggling to pay bills, Giant could be struggling because of it.
Giant is in a weird position where they could be less effected by sales slow downs because they manufacture for multiple other companies.
On the other hand if multiple of those companies can't pay or are late paying Giant, cash flow issues could multiply quickly.
I'd assume the picture is worse with Shimano. Most the way through COVID brands knew not to overbuy on SRAM because the transmission cannon was about to go off so I feel like they biased toward Shimano. That way if transmission didn't work out well at least there is still reasonably high end Shimano stuff they can use (XT and xtr). Now with new Shimano about to drop brands are really sweating it. Not to mention Shimano still owns the "low end" (below deore/nx) side of the market.
To tie this back to team rumors I would expect giant to run a team, probably one of the larger teams on the circuit and probably fill it with young up and comers who need to stability.
I wonder if we ever get to a point where the UCI starts helping teams, revenue sharing if you will. They hold part of team fees in something like escrow to ensure that the little teams come out with enough at the end of the year to compete next year. All the big leagues seem to be doing it these days to ensure financial stability in uncertainty.
Not meaning to stir up the "dh isn't F1!!!!" folks but their rev share system is a good example of it working in a way that can benefit "struggling" teams - seeing Alpine (dead last start of season, even making Sauber look good) suddenly have a better outlook for next season after having a killer weekend, bumping up a few spots in the Constructor's and getting an extra ~$10m could be a good model for how to keep lower-funded teams with riders that can occasionally deliver big results but generally stay in the 10th-25th range afloat and building year over year
If Putin/Trump hit the big red buttons and nukes are flying, there will be 2 things left in existence.

Some rumblings of an axis of S banding together to follow this - Scotland, Switzerland and Slovenia.
Exactly! and F1 all but admitted with the Cadillac deal that it's quality over quantity in pro sports.
Wilson Gates Unior??
Just leaving this one here for you guys

Erice off Commencal
Damn, came here to post that, but been sniped!
This is one I didn't expect..... Thought Max would hang onto Erice's contract for a few years yet!
Edit
Although now scrolling thru Max's insta, there's not one pic or reel of Erice that I spotted?
Hm, Reece going for that 100G prize money from gates it seems, this could be interesting.
This would be mental if it happened and Reece is always that dark horse, Suddenly he finds those 'faster than everyone else' lines come finals.
Amazing programs like the Les Orres team probably won't be at the world cups. Hopefully she is going to YT with Vali. It would be great to see them compete with FMD. We need teams with more than one female rider.
