I'm not sure I'd agree that EWS riders run a "slightly harsher" setup. In every rider interview I’ve read, heard,or seen they say their EWS bike is setup slightly or significantly softer than their DH bike because the races are so much longer, more physically draining, and they aren't able to memorize every root and rock on the track. I know EWS riders are riding smaller bikes to keep them maneuverable, but I don't know if I'd call them harsh. Everyone I know who races the EWS runs more of the "magic carpet" suspension setup vs. the "set it stiff...

How would I know that? The article states 4 testers who are all 5'8 and 5'9.

I think the real showing regarding the state of the market will be what Shimano does with the Saint group...

A fair number of Specialized's "comfort" bikes have Schraeder valves that are fully threaded and have a small ring that screws down to the rim. I imagine they do it for the exact reason you specify - the valve gets pushed into the rim when you try to inflate the tube.

Maybe the ultimate solution is this poppet design in a schrader sized valve.. With some many rims going wider, why do we stay with the presta valve? There is now plenty of rim material to allow for a little bit of a bigger hole...

Both claim ‘x’ times better flow rate than a Presta valve (x4 here) but what is the flow rate of a Schrader valve compared to these or a Presta? They seem to be a solution to a problem that has already been solved.

I’ve had this happen with lots of tyres (mainly Maxxis as that’s what I nearly always run) and it should seal eventually. As said above, cleaning the insides usually helps but I find a lot of Maxxis tyres do this at first.

i'd argue there is very little difference because strait WAS in the most viewed videos and media forms available during his time. he was as "visible" as jackson and was at the top of dirt jump, slope, slalom, freeride and world cup DH in his day. strait did it all and was shown in every way possible, no different than jackson today.

I think Kyle Straight would take that title. He was shredding and getting photos in the mags as a baby faced kid and rode in the first rampage at 16. Jackson is awesome though and it is cool to see him progressing from balance bike to World Cup DH.

Jackson is pretty much mtb’s first child prodigy. There have been some incredible accomplishments by teenagers in the past. But as far as a kid coming up on modern bikes and having a universally developed brand that hasn’t been done before and Jackson’s father/family has a lot to do with that. If anyone is qualified to have a say on Jackson’s immediate future it is his family. And his family should absolutely be asking for jackson to be paid at a level very uncommon for someone his age. Cause that kid is going to sell bikes for a very long...
