Unfortunate to see a quality distributor find themselves in too deep and have to go down this path. They had a number of premium brands and, by all accounts, did some pretty heavy lifting on the marketing front, which can't be said of all distributors. Losing Cannondale and Enve certainly didn't help matters, but I would also guess Castelli and TLD (premium clothing) were a drag, and brands like Pivot and King likely carry some heavy inventory dollar/pounds. I don't know about the UK, but Silca is always on sale here, so likely some margin pressure for a distributor, and...

YT decoy x core range launched today with avinox. the bikes are considerably cheaper than competitors. i'm asking w/o trying to judge or throw shade...isn't this what got YT into trouble in the first place? how do they sell an X0 transmission/podium-equipped bike for 8500 euro ($9900 USD) when a similarly spec'd bike from other brands is in the 14k USD range and survive? i figure "this helps them get cash," but how much cash is left over after they pay for the cost of these bikes? 2nd question - would OE brands on these bikes need to be paid...

Replacing the Strive? That’s crazy So you have to either choose more of a trail bike or a freeride bike as an enduro, not a 160mm bike

New Canyon Torque is out (in Europe). Replacing the Strive enduro bike. 180mm front and rear, mullet only. The pricing is pretty amazing… https://www.canyon.com/de-de/mountainbike/enduro-bikes/torque/

This already happened... the original rims were branded Santa Cruz. They then switched to Reserve branding.

I think the issue is not being able to establish what the problem is because your riding isn’t consistent enough and therefore you don’t actually know what you are trying to fix. No one wants to try to problem solve a problem that they can’t even read. You shooting in the dark, unsure about the validity of potential solutions, and potentially don’t understand the complicated relationship between all the systems so you might actually end up fucking something up terribly. It’s not surprise many people don’t want to tinker.

Thinking of myself, I don't know that I'm that consistent of a rider yet. I'm similar to your friend in that I'm a musician and someone who isn't afraid to dive into the details of anything. I've been riding 3 years and I find myself a little too inconsistent in my riding to imagine bracketing to be a super useful practice. I feel like I'll get more out of trusting my bike and just learning to ride it better. If I were to guess, one of the things your friend and I might also have in common is that we...

I want to preface this by saying I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, but it seems to me that people complaining that the bike wasn't made for them is partially what lead to the V6 Tallboy the way it is. It's become part of the homogenous mass of Horst link bikes. I remember times when people complained about a new bike coming out and it not being Horst link, like the g3 Kona Process. Or it's like every time a bike comes out and people complain that the chainstays aren't long enough, or the stack isn't high...

Lots of talk about how it's 300g lighter, but in nearly the same XT di2 build, the intense spider is .2 lbs lighter than the Tallboy and 1400 dollars cheaper.

Probably is fine with a progressive spring. Or just do it anyways, it's not like no one has run linear coils on bikes with that low of progression before.

Yeahh. Sorry, not sorry haha. This is honestly my preferred seat wu, and I pedal quite a lot. This version of the Silverado is actually quite nice and it doesn't feel like it's as nose up as it looks. Like anything else, it's all about what you're used to. If a saddle has more forward tilt to it, I feel like I have too much pressure in my hands while seated. And having C5-7 disc degradation as badly as I do, it helps keep my pelvis rotated back in such a way to alleviate hand numbness that I tend to...

$3900 is an absolutely insane price for a frame only option, but thankfully SC priced this at a very reasonable $3,899.

I joined to say that I really appreciate the quality of this Unaffiliated review. Front-rear balance, grip, shock tuning, the things that are hard to discern quickly (for me, at least) and make a bike a long-term keeper versus a sell-when-you-can.

It's also quicker to change direction in tight sections, which makes getting on the right line easier. Tight switchbacks, which ironically are common on "all day backcountry missions", no question that the mullet is better. Recently was daily driving a full 29er XC bike after years of only mullet bikes and was struggling on certain sections of climbs compared to my 5010. Marketing, instead of actual experience has convinced people that 27.5 is worse for climbing in every scenario and it's sad to see short travel mullet bikes going away.

Niner shutting shop shouldn't surprise anyone. They haven't done anything relevant in near a decade. Geo and aesthetics for their full sus platforms are very much off the back. That they lasted as long as they did was always a wonder to me.
