I'm pretty sure I've never come across anyone wearing out pads in the front twice as quick as the rear, are you riding a penny farthing :-)

I use the front brake way more than the back because it's the only brake that actually stops the bike. I usually change front pads twice before changing my rear ones. I run 203mm front rotor with ceramic pads and 180mm rear rotor with ceramic pads. I have a gully (chable) type trail which is basically 1:30mins of braking super hard and it's the ultimate brake test. Most of my front brakes fade down there.

Braking configurations are heavily influenced by vehicle dynamics. Roadrace bikes have huge front rotors because almost as soon as braking is initiated the rear tire has very little to zero weight on it, so no braking. The only time I touched the rear brake on my TZ250 was approaching the starting line. A Top Fuel dragster has no front brakes at all. The bulk of stopping for them is the parachutes. Yes, the bike is balanced. I’ve been a hardcore mountain biker and motocrosser for years and I’m good at setting up suspension. The fork feels ok generally but it’s the first fork I’ve ever had that’s never bottomed out. That combined with the hand numbness has just gotten in my head a bit.

No, but I used to ride Patapsco 3-4 times a week when I lived in the city. I’m part of GUMBO, which primarily does trail work in Little Gunpowder State Park. It doesn’t have the mileage of Patapsco but its has a good variety of trails, great core group that does a ton of maintenance and building, and it’s 2 miles from my house. Working through some of the suggestions, I think I'm going to give the following setup a try and report back with long-term results. WAO Deal (offset carbon rim), DT Swiss Alpine III spokes on brass nipples, Maxxis New DH casing DHR2, and we're gonna give Rimsaver a shot as well. Thank you all for your input!
