6/1/2026 1:50pm Pretty sure that is a 29er. I would be surprised to see Rock Shox release a Pike 32" fork before a Sid 32"

6/1/2026 6:54am I remember hearing that OneUp is going to be the MTB wheel brand, Reserve the gravel/road brand. OneUp already has hubs in their lineup.

6/1/2026 6:54am Forbidden also messing around with the e-bike without a motor to test out some DH stuff with Laurie. 'The bike Laurie rode during the week was an early proof-of-concept acoustic DH build using a Dreadnought E front triangle and a number of custom parts. It was built to get the gravity project moving in the real world, giving the team something to ride, change, measure, and question while putting early ideas underneath a rider who can give accurate feedback at speed.' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLJAPe6Hl3s

6/1/2026 6:53am "Speaking to the eBike riders I see on the trails here, they're all shifting to lower-priced bikes as they've realized that they can without sacrificing performance." This lines up with a hypothesis I've been thinking about for a while, which is that I think so much of the weirdness of the bike industry and bike customers (obsession with grams and weight, obsession over granular differences in tire feel and suspension tuning, and willingness to spend enormous amounts to customize and upgrade a stock bike) comes down to the weakness of the human motor and the human mind. We only generate...

6/1/2026 6:53am As I noted a few posts back, GoPro disclosed they are now a "going concern". I dug into what exactly happened and posted it to my substack for those interestd. The short version won't surprise anyone in this forum... -DJI kicked their ass from the top -Smart phones kicked their ass from the bottom -They never really were a technology company, more of a lifestyle company masquerading as a technology company -There was some arrogance, especially when it came to their tangle up with DJI in 2013 (which you guys will hear on VitalMTB pod soon) -They became memetic as...

6/1/2026 6:52am Yes, this is partially why they almost went out of business last time. From their US site, that $8,999 tag is very agressive. Apples to apples comparison is the COMMENCAL META POWER SX AVINOX PODIUM and that thing is priced at $12K. A few things that might be helping YT here: Alloy framesets across all models, definitely helps with the retail price and development costs. These bikes were likely at an advanced stage of development when YT went bankrupt, maybe even already in production, or at the very least, raw materials and some parts were already sourced from the frame...

6/1/2026 6:52am The service "light" is already there. Most brands allow any shop to set their own service intervals and most bikes will have a wrench or error code show up on their display, showing that they need to bring the bike in for service. You can set it to time frame or amount of kilometers ridden, so you could have different intervals for e mountain bikes, e commuters or e road bikes given the different types of riding they'll encounter. For example I might set an e mountain bike for service every 450 km, but an e commuter or road bike...

5/22/2026 12:53pm Margins on ebikes are not as good on the brand side. The drive unit, battery, wiring, charge port, display, controller, charger, brackets, and higher assembly cost due to extra complication all add up to more than the difference between what the equivalent spec pedal bike and ebike are once typical margin calculations are applied. The market has priced ebikes lower than they should be, as crazy as that sounds. It's one of the reasons ebikes are not quite the panacea some people think they are for brands or dealers. Yes ebikes have higher average MSRP so more dollars are coming...

5/22/2026 6:37am Yes, you have to remove the wheel on both. DT hubs you can remove the cassette and FHB without any tools, just lift up on it and the FHB/cassette pop off. Adjust the DF ratchet and reassemble. That is seconds. Pulling the wheel takes longer than making the adjustment.

5/21/2026 9:35am The thing that’s different with e-bikes is that their range will get slightly better every few years or so for the foreseeable future. It’s hard for a normal human to understand why the new Nomads kinematic is “better” but a longer range battery is easy. More ride time. Bike marketing and product decisions are so confusing and nerdy to normal people that this is a welcome change in my view. It’s easy to understand and directly affects the ride in a big way.

5/21/2026 6:51am One other benefit the lease programs is a good supply of relatively low mileage used cars to sell... So, the person who always wants the newest thing keeps making lease payments, and the people who don't mind a used cars have options that will usually be on the higher end of the price scale due to the terms of the lease..

5/21/2026 6:04am Of all the reviews I have seen online, nobody is complaining about the progression or bottoming out all the time. And if JKW didn't immediately fill it with volume spacers, then I think there is some overreaction here.

5/21/2026 6:03am You have to remember the true target market of this bike....if you really need that much extra resistance then a Tallboy is the wrong bike for you, full stop. The forum guys wanting to run a coil shock are a niche of a niche type of mountain biker so they aren't going to design the bike with that in mind. I also don't think its that far off, and they maybe chose to ship it with that shock spec so people can easily remove the spacers if that need to. And plenty of people have run coil shocks in bikes...

5/21/2026 6:02am I used to work at DT and I have not ridden Sidekick so obviously I have a preference. What I like about the DF system is that it can be turned off in seconds. I live in Grand Junction and for Lunch Loops, there is a lot of ratcheting you will do. For climbing there I run it in 0...
