When buying gloves buy something that feels a bit too tight when you try them on in the shop as they stretch out to fit your hand and not bunch up.

They are kind of expensive. But handup pro performance gloves have a very tight fit on my hands and tend to last a pretty long time. Blisters turn to callouses and then you won’t feel it anymore. Just keep riding.

I've got that same feeling with my Reeb SST, It's gonna stay with me a for a very long time. I'll probably need to get repainted a few times in it's lifetime. But, my 5yo has already said that he wants it when he gets older haha.

This is one of the reasons I ponied up the money to have a custom steel hardtail made a few years ago. I’m not getting invited to Greta Thunberg’s sailboat or anything, but I liked the idea of having at least one bike that I will keep forever.

Its a super-duper longshot, but I have watched this play out a few times now. All depends on a few (huge) things... 1) Who here sold a tech company/has generational wealth/a mega rich uncle/dad who runs a hedge fund and is bored? We'd need 7 figures to buy the thing out of receivership. 2) What is the price? If the price is right, it works. If its not, its all for nothing. 3) "Who's coming with me?" The timing is not in our favor, and I can't stress how important point number 1 is. Most people aren't interested in tying...

Feels like that's the bitter end, right? Administration/receivership/bankruptcy is one thing, but it can lead to restructuring. Selling off all the physical assets via auction is another thing entirely. Although I suppose YT went through the auction process and they're back again.

It looks even better in person! Never ridden a Spot myself but I like what they’re doing. A buddy of mine is a big fan, he’s got the Mayhem, their hardtail, and gravel bike.

One thing missing here is the fact that with the proliferation of composite know how, there are more people around able to safely repair a wider range of issues. Rather than pretending we are recycling carbon bikes I’d love to see more frames designed in ways that facilitate repair. Repair is verifiable in a way that recycling is not, it is cost effective for everyone concerned, and it is as close as you’ll get to good for the environment. It probably flows on to other design decisions to ensure repair is viable (like bearing placement, etc etc), but designing bikes...

Sorry, just saw your message. I have the Hybrid DEG DF on my e-bike, which only has the 0/10 settings. To your point, no need to ever run it in the 0 setting. Should have clarified that. I have DEG DF on my other bikes which also have the 20 setting but I only find myself running that in the...

What is the thinking for choosing the 10 deg setting in your EMTB? Wouldn't you want to run the larger 20 deg setting since the motor activating quickly takes up the freeplay so engagement speed is much less of a concern than on the MTB?

Just fitted a DF hub to my Patrol. It's in the 10deg setting and it's made a noticable difference through some of the rough trails we have here (Canadian Rockies). My previous bike was a V1 Druid and whilst I didn't miss too many things from it when I moved to the Patrol I did notice the increased feedback at the pedals. I think the DF hub has certainly helped in that regard. I debated Sidekick but my LBS had this already in stock and I had DT wheels. I can see myself ordering a Sidekick for my better halfs...

Thanks all for the additional information/perspectives. Current plan is to get the DT F 1900 or Reserve HD Alloy wheelset and use the current dented wheelset as backup. Maybe they can get the current hubs rebuilt before next season. My personal recommendation to the rider would be the Reserve HD alloy as they have the option of DT 350 DEG DF hubs for no extra $$. It's on a high pivot bike, but experimenting with the anti-kickback might prove useful and those hubs are a good platform for future rebuilds.

Assuming you’re asking from a technological, not environmental standpoint . Can we technologically put TPC’s in the bin for the next 25 years? That’s a blade that cuts both ways. Unless high performance polymers like PEEK, PEKK, PAEK, PPS, etc come down significantly in price then TPC’s are probably not going to gain much more traction in our industry. But if we don’t work to develop them then there’s zero chance of them being adopted. Much like fossil fuels thermoset resins are so damn good at what they do replacing them is really hard.
