11/12/2025 4:49pm I have to agree with this. I have a medium fw enduro and almost wish i got a small at 5'9". Reach isnt crazy long but its a big bike. Also at 41 pounds probably about the weight of a sl e bike so im guessing one of them would feel closer to a normal enduro bike vs a 50lb e bike. Im about to do something dumb to see if i can make it feel a bit smaller. 1 degree angle set to steepen it slightly, 180mm airshaft, 10mm reverse angle spacer to replace the crown race, and a...

11/12/2025 4:49pm Capable =/= fun (depending on the rider) Not much of a compelling argument to be made of would you rather bunnyhop/scrub/etc a 35 pound mountain bike or a 45-55 pound ebike. Not sure I'll ever have the privilege, but I do want to try an 'SL' ebike one day to see if it feels like a 'normal mountain bike with some climbing assistance' or just 'a slightly lighter ebike with worse range'. Canyon Spectral Onfly looks fun to ride. But considering how easy it is to drain a 540wh battery on a Decoy and how unfun it is to ride...

11/12/2025 4:48pm lol exactly this on the 540wh Decoy. Actually just took it out last night to intentionally kill the battery on boost. Did 18 miles and 3000 feet before dying, including a bit of flat road ride to the trail. Rode 7 miles home on a dead battery. I've done the same ride on trail mode only before but I forget if I recorded it. So now I need to go back and do that. I'm just never sure how to trust the 'test numbers'. Depending on what the vert is. Mellow fire road, steep fire road, up and down technical...

11/12/2025 4:46pm Sounds fun! I’m still a few years away from a new ebike but a requirement for my next bike will be 1000+wh capability. Meta power TR with 625wh Bosch and range extender. Weigh 190lbs suited up with water and tools and stuff. Have done 37 miles and 7500’vert with a little battery left, and there was a bunch of turbo used. If I stayed conservative and in tour mode could probably eke out 45 miles and 8500-9000 vert, but half the fun of e bikes is not being conservative.

11/12/2025 4:46pm Probably not. Bikes under 40lbs take more energy out of me on the downhills. Most reviews i see measure vert/distance in boost/turbo. I'd be curious to know that. Should be no problem to do back to back 1100w days to test that....... My old decoy still has the e8000 with a 540w battery. Its boost all ths time unless im crawling home conserving battery in eco or using trail mode if it snows

11/9/2025 4:10pm I've seen Hatton, Greenland, Breeden and Tahnee Seagrave in person today at Peaty's bike bonanza. Other than selling off some kit from last season it looks to me like Laurie and Charlie are staying put, as they were out there repping their respective teams.

11/8/2025 7:26pm Maybe YT (Young Talent) returns in 2026 under new ownership and a vowel change? OT Bikes would be cool (Old Talent) Legends like Tippie, Hans Rey and I'm sure loads of other OT's are looking for rides 🤣

11/7/2025 5:08pm Racing and an ambassador like Tippie both come out of the marketing budgets for most companies. Which one is going to potentially sell more bikes? The guy racing or the guy at races and other events stoking other riders as well as hyping up your brand? I might be biased since I know Brett, but he brings a lot to the table and maybe for less than a WC racer.. That article really sums up Brett quite nicely.

11/7/2025 5:07pm Tippie isn’t competitive, and you’re not really hiring him to ride. He's basically a marketing ambassador. You aren’t paying him to even ride, really. He has a skill set that’s beyond riding and something that most people, regardless of their riding ability, don’t have. He’s not really a “modern” influencer, because social media isn’t his medium, but a brand would basically “sponsor” him in the same way as an influencer, not as a racer/freerider. You’re paying for the personality and story, not the talent.
