Agreed. Downtime goes Downhill is awesome and Chris is really great as an interviewer. Pre/post race episodes are great. He builds rapport with his guests really well so it often feels like friends talking. I don't expect him or anyone else in mtb media to ask the hard-hitting questions; they all have to be careful not to piss potential advertisers off. Chris has great episodes, a great attitude, seems genuinely curious, and also does some episodes that pay him well. I'm always stoked to see a Downtime episode show up on my phone.

Agreed. He’s great and I love the pod. I also really enjoy, weirdly, the Downtime goes downhill series. A bunch of amateur Middle Aged Brit’s racing downhill or enduro shouldn’t be that interesting to me… but somehow it is.

I’m marveling at this dude’s ability to detach himself from decisions he made. Talking about these onerous contracts that have simply handcuffed them, whatever shall we do? Zero accountability. Like, I expect it from these sociopath CEO LinkedIn financebro podcast goblins, but it’s infuriating to hear. Made it to the halfway mark, I’m out. I don't understand what you are getting at. YT made a financial commitment to those racers, those racers fulfilled their end of the agreement and Markus failed to pay them what he owed them. Whether you think a race team is a good investment or not, a business owner should pay their obligations. While it may be legal to not pay the team members it isn't ethical.

As a 'semi-outsider' to MTB. Hard MTB is my favorite race format I've seen so far. And I hope they expand ever so slightly on the climbing portion and make some pseudo-trials features, very similar to those indoor enduro relay tracks or whatever that Warner commentates on. I had a similar one... except it happened up above my waistline on my side from slamming down onto the top of a wooden wall ride. Most gravity bikes sold are enduro bikes, and, I'd guess that on a local level, enduro racing is still popular. a TM i talked to a month or so ago was not stoked on having to have teams locked and announced so quickly. implied others felt the same. releasing so early means bikes, uniforms, etc may not be ready for announcements among other hurdles that would cripple marketing (like syndicate getting kolb done at MSA?). sounds plausible that teams convinced authorities to adjust the public timeline.

Sad update, knowing its not sorted yet (and how messy the end obviously would have been). Would love for him to do a random enduro+DH program akin to Rude and Melamed's end of season but... Understand how impractical that is. Especially traveling from where he is. But glad he's been restin up and getting some paddle outs.
