A Reactor with decent RS build, but not AXS for AXS sake.

Unless you’re doing 20 hours a week specific zone 2 training is for people who listen to too many podcasts

Good read. I ride for fun now, all rides lead to the pub so regardless I'm having 5 schooners after the ride, any fitness aspects are moot. If I ride my "meat powered" hardtail there is a sense of acheivment, my legs are sore, my ass is sore. The beers are delicious If I ride my 170mm eeb, my upper body muscles are sore, my ass is sore, the beers are still delicious You just choose the right tool for the job that day. If I have nothing on all day I'll ride the hardtail at a leisurely pace and...

Horses for courses. I ride pretty much only ebikes now for a variety of reasons. I'm 58 and grew up when my xc bike was a bullit with super t's on dh tires and tubes, so the weight doesnt really matter to me. I really only ride 2 places, out my garage and at a pedal up bike park (Sky Tavern). The trails I ride out my garage are a blend of multi use (moto and mtb) trails climbing up with techy, off the menu trails coming down, they're really only climable (for me) on an ebike. I usually ride...

If you were opening up a bike shop or online store. Picked these three because they offer a wide range of high quality bikes that appeal to all types of consumers. -Orbea -Ibis -Trek Actual Favs : Picked these because they consistently make bikes that absolutely slap. -Commencal -Forbidden -Nukeproof

Really need to give huge kudos to Dak for the season he's having, he's no spring chicken, coming back from huge injury and he's sending it. I don't usually pull for a rider but I'm rooting for a big result from him, therefor I have deleted him from my fantasy team.

Schwalbe doesn't have as much overlap in their product line as Maxxis. A lot of us are asking for a rear focus radial, I think the front is covered. A TC would be cool but there's nothing really great for the non-leaners like a Dissector.

I am completely fired up about the HR3. I'm not a huge MM fan, but I did really like how the radial casing felt but still struggled with a vague corner entry and side knob bite feeling on the radial MM. The HR3 is an absolute traction monster for me in deep dust and loose conditions, as well as chunder/rubble/ruts like we have in the back country locally. I've come to appreciate how the narrower width actually plays well with the intended loose conditions and makes it easier to surf the middle of the ruts. The locked in feeling you...

Current status on my front MM Grav/Radial ultrasoft which has about 12 bike park days on it. vs the HR3 with the 6 local rides. There is some undercutting already appearing on some knobs on the HR3.

I have 3 bikes with MM fronts, radials and regular casings, and 1 bike with a HR3 DD/MG which replaced an Assg.(dhr2 rear) I've put probably six rides on the HR3, mostly in the dry but at least two were 2 wetish/hero dirt with intermediate PNW mixed conditions. My impressions: The HR3 is small volume with big knobs. The tire...
Have you ridden a Giga? You can set it up to be plow or more playful, and it still pedals excellently for such a hitter. I still see the frames floating around here and there for pretty cheap. I never felt the need to put a dual crown mine but it can be done.
Was in the same boat earlier this year and the Polygon was on my short list. I ended up getting a Tues Core 3 for $4700ish otd. It was stacked for that price, Carbon, Ohlins, FR1500s, etc. Now have ridden it all over Whistler zero issues and love it. It's playful, jumps amazing, and handles the steep stuff great. My...

Looking forward to vehemently redirecting anything and everything to do with 32 in wheels to that thread in the future, despite all things 32 inch wheel still constituting rumours and innovation at this point.

With consistently high AS/kickback rate, consistently high AR, in practice Switch Infinity bikes just ride like linkage driven single pivots. They tune their AS to drop right at the end of the stroke to minimise kickback, but if your suspension is compressing fast enough to give you kickback while it's already 95% compression then you're about to have a bad time, and kickback is the least of your problems. Switch Infinity is a very complex and expensive way to do very little.

The latest generation of Pivot's Firebird enduro bike is a unique beast with an enticing set of skills. Despite its aggressive intent, it manages to balance big-hit capability with surprising efficiency on climbs. It's also got a lot of pep in its step for a 165mm bike. Marketed as the weapon of choice for Pivot's EDR racers, there is a lot more to unpack about the Firebird than just raw speed that makes it a compelling option for those wanting a long-travel bike. Highlights 165mm rear wheel travel // 170mm fork 29-inch or mixed wheel options (XS frame MX only)...

iceman2058 Liked a product review YT Goes Bigger with New Decoy

7/24/2025 11:23am
Launched in 2019, the Decoy was YT’s first foray into the e-MTB space. Whilst the online chatter often cited its geo as conservative, that did nothing to hold the bike back, whether in tests or in the web shop where it’s still sitting pretty as YT’s best-selling bike to date. Even the somewhat aging Shimano EP801 motor has done little to blunt its appeal over the past few years, driven as always by a strong price/value ratio underpinned by the direct-to-consumer sales model. With all that said, 6 years is an eternity in model years, and after launching two...
