PhoS Added a reply to 2026 MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation - Longer and Slacker
2/20/2026 5:50pm Guessing 29, with flexy wheels? I have had an albert on my druidv2 29 for the better part of a season , it'll buzz once in a while but I doubled the wrap where it rubbed and it's been fine.

sspomer Liked a product review Full Power, High Pivot and Surprisingly Nimble - Norco Sight VLT
11/19/2025 4:02pm
Vital has spent 7 months aboard what may be our favorite full-powered eMTB of 2025, the Norco Sight VLT CX. This full carbon, high pivot rig gets 150mm of rear travel with a 160mm fork up front, and despite the numbers, feels considerably longer travel than advertised. Powered by the tried-and-true Bosch CX system with long-lasting 800Wh battery, this Gen 4 Sight VLT continued to surprise us over and over again with its ability to handle big, nasty terrain, but also remain playful and nimble in tight-handling scenarios. We expected the high pivot suspension layout to gobble up bumps but...

11/19/2025 3:35pm He didn't really absolve all the debts. He bought back the company, which he was not a major owner of anymore due to the prior sale, and the administrators accepted his offer as the best. They reviewed and agreed that his offer would provide creditors adequate compensation out of all the offers available. It just so happened that the CEO was the one to buy it with his own money/financing. It would also be legal in the US. What he did as CEO before insolvency was also legal, in that he ran a sale to get cash ostensibly to save...

11/9/2025 5:46pm You’re actually reinforcing exactly what I already said, so I’ll repeat it: “It’s funny—people who swear by ‘short chainstays’ also defend 435 mm across all sizes. That’s basically saying chainstay length doesn’t matter. And let’s be honest, 435 isn’t short on a size small.” You say you like short chainstays and that I’m wrong for calling Evil out—but you’re missing the point. Evil clearly doesn’t think 435 mm is the “right” short chainstay for their size Small Offering, because 435 is proportionally massive on a frame with a 440 mm reach. It’s a cost-cutting decision, plain and simple—as Evil themselves...

11/7/2025 4:55am i remember the „refinement“ of the undead… and velduro will offer a second, 450mm long chainstay for the l/xl bikes shipping next year. so when a startup is able to invest in another mold, evil should easily be able to do the same on a >4k frame

11/6/2025 5:39pm But seriously, are size-specific chainstays even a debate at this point? I get wanting a “short” chainstay, but shouldn’t it be proportionally short for each frame size? A 435 mm chainstay paired with a 440 mm reach versus a 500 mm reach is going to feel completely different. It’s funny—people who swear by “short chainstays” seem to also defend a 435 mm across all sizes. That’s basically saying chainstay length doesn’t matter. And let’s be honest, 435 isn’t short on a size small.

11/6/2025 5:38pm Who’s upset? Just because a lot of riders don’t know what chainstay length they prefer doesn’t mean it doesn’t make a big difference in ride feel. Size-specific chainstays are expensive, sure—but it’s interesting that most brands now think it’s worth the cost, while Evil doesn’t. Based on my own riding experience, I believe Evil is wrong here. A size XL shouldn’t share the same chainstay length as a size small. It’s disappointing, because I like a lot about Evil’s bikes overall, but uniform chainstays are a dealbreaker. I ride a large and haven’t ridden a 435 mm CS since 2019...

11/6/2025 5:37pm Nobody’s buying a modern trail or enduro bike with a 66° head tube angle anymore. We need to stop pretending geometry is just “personal preference.” As the sport evolves, we learn what works — and some setups are objectively outdated. 26" wheels are dead. Steep head tube angles are dead. The list goes on. Designing every frame size with the same 435mm chainstay is a cost-cutting move, plain and simple. Anyone who actually understands bike dynamics knows how critical chainstay length is to ride feel — and it makes zero sense for a size Small and a size XL to...

11/4/2025 9:16pm I'd love to try one... in a field of crab links, faux crab links and imitation crab link look alikes, this does stand out as different and interesting. As a 6'3" ish rider, I'm interested in the design/validation process that lead to a fixed chainstay size. I'm a longer chainstay type of guy, but I can admit when I jump on a pivot, I'm not thinking of how short the chainstays are the whole time. I feel like there is a riding style that is central to evil bikes that jives with slapping the back end in and out of...

11/4/2025 9:11pm why do you think everyone should have the same length rear center but a size specific front center and do you believe every size rides exactly the same?

11/2/2025 8:15am Good read. I ride for fun now, all rides lead to the pub so regardless I'm having 5 schooners after the ride, any fitness aspects are moot. If I ride my "meat powered" hardtail there is a sense of acheivment, my legs are sore, my ass is sore. The beers are delicious If I ride my 170mm eeb, my upper body muscles are sore, my ass is sore, the beers are still delicious You just choose the right tool for the job that day. If I have nothing on all day I'll ride the hardtail at a leisurely pace and...

11/2/2025 8:14am Horses for courses. I ride pretty much only ebikes now for a variety of reasons. I'm 58 and grew up when my xc bike was a bullit with super t's on dh tires and tubes, so the weight doesnt really matter to me. I really only ride 2 places, out my garage and at a pedal up bike park (Sky Tavern). The trails I ride out my garage are a blend of multi use (moto and mtb) trails climbing up with techy, off the menu trails coming down, they're really only climable (for me) on an ebike. I usually ride...
