I've been tracking against the clock for a while, with two different setups: -The original motion instruments kit had a very good handlebar bluetooth button that allowed for logging time stamps. Worked great, until an update made it essentially non-functional, with a need to regularly reconnect the button with each new run. When it worked, it was golden as you...

I would like to know why that Intend fork is no longer compatible with a direct mount stem. The early 2000s look with normal stem is 🤮

I think the big news is Downamics is the official UK agent for countershox. Oh and the brake setup is a carbon tube and a crf hose guide. I asked 😅

That photo shows my default toeclip setup: one foot in, one foot out, with the clip in a perfect position to snag every trailside stick or root and chuck me over the bars.

There are larger dampers on RC trucks! Not sure if it ever did anything other than look cool. And @Big Bird - definitely started with toe clips with tennis shoes. Seemed great at the time!

My first real "upgrade" was swapping the rigid fork on my rockhopper for an AMP research linkage fork. The only thing I can say about that fork is it was marginally better than the next fork I bought, a judy with the elastomer guts swapped over to Englund air cartridge. It required inflation before and during every ride.

Meh. I know it's technically on theme but I really don't want this to turn into another economy thread that wades in the paddling pool of 'i know people doing fine so things are fine. National average minimum wage is 9 bucks (and thats after a decent bump through covid of course). Average rent is somewhere between 1500-2k, depending on which unreliable source you care to cite. Average house cost is 360k-500k, also depending on which unreliable source you cherry pick. (Not even gonna touch on housing cost where I live lol, hence using averages) We're choking our middle class...

This one hurts. The motion instruments system is on the shortlist of things that really elevated by understanding of suspension dynamics and setup. Telemetry may not be applicable to every rider, but at least for me, Motion Instruments made the fancy tech accessible and completely changed my bike setup for the better.

My feeling is that we were all a little too obsessed with how a bike pedals, it’s uphill performance, etc. downcountry created a category that freed up trail bikes to be a bit more descent-focused. New stumpy and Bronson dropped a lot of anti-squat, and I think there is still a lot of AS on the table. I think bike lurker is right about hta, sta, and reach. I also think DH bikes are borrowing a bit from enduro and getting longer and lower, but most riders don’t want or need that. I personally want my enduro bike to be...

I ran the cnc machines that made all of the linkage parts on that bike- some of the last GT's truly handmade in the USA. Back then GT had their R&D facility in Longmont, CO, and that's where these bikes were dreamed up and built, in addition to where their titanium frames were handmade. I worked for Brent Trimble (former partner and owner of Kestrel bikes and Trimble bikes from the late 80's and early 90's- the original carbon fiber frame builder and wizard pioneer) who designed and built GT's Superbike USA olympic timetrial frames as well as all of...

At least it doesn't have the threaded bearing seat/drive ring face found in the 240 EXP hub. Removing that for bearing service was without question the highest torque event I've ever encountered in all my years of wrenching.
