Seems like there is a lot of smoke and mirrors in the mtb suspension world, so it's beneficial for the customer to be ignorant. When the reality is that a Monotube Shock and a Showa Twin Chamber Fork architecture (identical to what all motocross bikes use) with a tune specific to the rider/chassis is superior to any of the adjustable gimmicks that RS and Fox keep trying to shove down our throats, ignorance is bliss for them.

DH racing doesn't need more big trucks, more money, more TV, it needs more racers and a more global culture. In a long run it's a win-win if athletes and brands can be exposed to more markets. Good luck convincing Weiner Bros of that........

Weight absolutely matters when it comes to compression damping - imagine 2 weights (a light one and heavy one) hanging from springs, which proportional in rate to the mass of the objects. If you pull them down the same distance and let go, they will both bounce up and down at the same frequency. Now if you try to stop them both bouncing, the heavy object will take more effort (work) from you than the light one, and that is exactly what your dampers are doing on the bike

Screw Europe-based big teams, they need to adapt to a less European-centric racing not to get more funding. UCI didn't wait for Kiwis and American racers to get more funding to be able to travel across the word. The goal is not to allow Europeans to travel easily but to give a fair chance to all racers all across the globe..

So...this is more general than Les Gets, but anyone ever try the Risk Racing remote control Roll Offs. In moto, you can pull a tear off or tug a roll off over jumps & on straightaways. The MRP damper looks pretty cool - I will need to get one in my hands soon as it does seem to be a tidy execution of a traditional shim stack thats designed to suit a specific range instead of as wide a range as possible. I always feel like my answers seem a bit confusing/contradictory - the main thing that gets lost is damper tuning doesn't quite behave how people think it will in theory.
